The Athletic Field Park Advisory Council is excited to announce our new President, Nick Fochtman.
Dennis Puhr, who has served the community for more than twenty years helping foster neighborhood engagement and support for the park, will be stepping down from the role of President. Dennis will continue to remain involved and support the council’s efforts.
Nick has called Chicago home for more than 20 years and works in marketing for a commercial real estate company. He and his daughter are regulars at the park—especially the swings and splash pad in the summer—and he’s excited to help the park and the surrounding community continue to grow and thrive together.
Please join us in welcoming Nick as the new President of the Athletic Field Park Advisory Council!
We also encourage neighbors and community members to consider volunteering and supporting AFAC. In the coming days, we’ll be sharing a link with opportunities to get involved and help continue building a strong, vibrant park community.

AFAC Volunteers Made This Happen!
Thanks to funds raised at our annual Fall Fest, we’ve added three additional picnic tables to the park. Volunteers rented a truck, drove to Wisconsin to pick them up, and unloaded them — all in one day!
Our next step: painting them to match the playground so they’re ready for spring.

At our last Athletic Field Park Advisory meeting, we discussed new ideas to bring neighbors into the park: like a month-long outdoor photo gallery or a community garden walk.
AFAC’s mission is to build community through engaging park experiences. Please take 2 minutes to complete our survey and share your input.
We also need more volunteers. We average just six people at monthly meetings, and these volunteers make everything happen from Movies in the Park to the Irving Park Community Block Sale and Fall Fest.
Without more help, some events may not continue.
Join us. Share your voice. Help keep our park thriving.
AFAC is a volunteer group (non-profit, member of Friends of the Park, FOTP) and registered advisory council with the Chicago Park District
