Today marks the start of National Gun Violence Awareness Month. To every survivor, supporter, and organization fighting to make our communities safer, we want to say that we see you and appreciate all the work you do.
Sharing the heartbreaking statistics about gun violence in America is never easy, but these conversations matter. People need to know the reality so we can continue pushing for change together.

We’re in the remaining hours of session in Springfield, and we have an urgent need! There is a gun safety package moving forward and we need you to SLIP IN SUPPORT of these measures in SB 3329, House Amendment 4:
Former HB 4999 MHDD CD-DISCLOSURE EXCEPTION (REP. BOB MORGAN) Aims to improve the number of records reported into the mental health reporting system when individuals are in crisis and are a danger to themselves or others.
Former HB 5209 FOID-MENTAL HEALTH (REP. MAURA HIRSCHAUER) - Will improve the system for returning FOID cards that have been suspended when individuals have mental health challenges.
Makes technical changes to the Safe at Home Act: Corrects a section of the Safe at Home Act that addressed the reporting of lost and stolen fi****ms. Mandates that at the point of disposition the Clerk of the Circuit Court shall furnish ISP with information as to whether a firearm used in a crime was reported as stolen on the ISP publicly accessible database.
These are important measures to improve the implementation and enforcement of our gun safety laws.

For four consecutive years, fi****ms have been the leading cause of death amongst children and teens. No child’s life should be cut short by a crisis we have the power to prevent.

Four years later, we remember the 19 students and 2 teachers killed in the Uvalde, Texas, shooting at Robb Elementary School. Classrooms should never become memorials, which is why action is needed every day towards gun violence prevention.

You can help Illinois ban DIY Machine Guns!! Submit a witness slip in under 5 minutes to show your support for the Responsible Gun Manufacturers Act ahead of a committee hearing this Wednesday. Head to the link in bio to submit yours!
This bill would prohibit the future retail sale to civilians of any semi-automatic handguns in Illinois that can be easily converted into fully automatic machine guns solely by the installation of a switch. Four years ago today, Illinois took action against ghost guns. By banning unserialized firearm parts and kits, our state helped close a dangerous loophole. Ghost guns make it harder for law enforcement to solve crimes and easier for violence to spread. Join G-PAC in fighting to reduce illegal gun access by visiting gpacillinois.com.

We’ve made exciting progress today!!
This morning, the Cook County Board of Commissioners voted to support the Responsible Gun Manufacturing Act and urged the Illinois General Assembly to pass the bill IMMEDIATELY this spring!
Thank you to the Cook County Board and special thanks to Bill Lowry, Cook County Commissioner of the 3rd District, who sponsored the resolution. What a huge win to add the Cook County Board to a growing list of advocates who are working to hold the gun industry accountable for the dangerous spread of DIY machine guns.
Shoutout to Dan Dwyer, a gun violence survivor and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America volunteer, pictured here speaking at the hearing in support of the legislation.
Lawmakers also need to hear from YOU on how urgent it is to pass the Responsible Gun Manufacturing Act. Learn more and take action now via the link in bio!
