Don't forget!!! There is still time to register for our "Know Your Block" event -- a free community workshop -- on Saturday, May 30 from 10:30am to 1pm. This workshop is designed to help Austin residents better understand and take action around vacant, troubled, and neglected properties in our neighborhood.

Residents will learn how to research property ownership, understand tax delinquency and foreclosure concerns, report problem properties, connect with local housing resources, and organize with neighbors to improve their block. Stop by to hear directly from housing professionals, community leaders, residents making change, and local resource partners.

The event will take place at the Aspire Center for Workforce Innovation (5500 W. Madison St. Chicago, IL 60644), and it is free & open to residents. Food will be provided! For more information, contact La'Shawna Bundy at [email protected], or at (773) 417-8611.

TOMORROW: The Greater Chicago Food Depository is giving out FREE food distributions from 1-5pm at Austin Town Hall (5610 W. Lake Street). Stop by for free groceries, fresh produce and more. All are welcomed.

Can't make tomorrow? They will be doing another food distribution next Wednesday, May 6th at the same time.
