CDOT's Economic Impact of Bike Lanes study was recently released (link in the comment section). Here's what they found with regards to the Milwaukee Bike Lanes:
💸 Sales tax revenue increased 66%
🚗 Crash costs decreased 44%
🧍 Private sector employment increased 37%
🚲 97% of public survey respondents would support safer bike lane designs
Business owners who participated in the study supported bike lanes in general but noted the value of parking for their customers and deliveries. My office will continue to work with local businesses to find the balance that supports their economic growth, while also maintaining a safe, multimodal road.

Today we held the ribbon cutting of Goethe Elementary’s brand new field and playground! These new additions were made possible in part through the 1st Ward’s Participatory Budgeting process, reinvesting taxpayer dollars back into our community to create a safe, engaging, and high-quality outdoor space for kids. Thank you to the school staff, families, neighbors, and partners who helped make this project a reality!
