Sad day for our Canadian Brothers and Sisters:

On Sunday, red paint was sprayed onto the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) memorial – which honours Moncton, Canada firefighters who died in service – and the Moncton Police Force memorial honouring police officers who died in the line of duty.

The memorial has been cleaned and police are investigating.

Never Forgotten-Rest in Peace

Preparations

On December 22, 2010 the 100th anniversary of a fire in the old Union Stockyards that killed 21 firefighters a memorial service was being held at the Chicago Firefighters Monument when word arrived that two firefighters died in the line of duty.

FF/PM Corey Ankum and FF Edward Stringer were killed. Their fellow firefighters dug them out. Seventeen others were injured.

That evening, CFD Lt. Timothy McCarthy began to create an amazing piece that captured the emotion both at the scene of fire and the monument. We think it is work sharing. Never Forgotten.
