Harvest Moon Walk Aims To Shine A Light On Avondale's Forgotten Riverfront History As the city cleans up its waterways and the riverfront sees more leisure use and developments, the Sunday tour can remind people about the riverfront's history.

Avondale Residents Push To Rename Plaza In Honor Of Neighborhood's Vanishing Polish Identity Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35th) is backing an ordinance to rename Woodard Plaza as Solidarity Triangle, a nod to the 1980s Polish solidarity movement.

Today, Christmas Day, Saint Hyacinth Basilica, a spiritual oasis for our Polish-American neighbors, celebrates 100 years since their first service in their current church. Referred to by some as a “Polish Cathedral”, the parish hall houses one of Chicago’s 3 restorative justice courts, a noble embodiment of our common values of mercy and being our brother’s and sister’s keeper.
