Interesting editorial in today’s Wall Street Journal calls for moderates to rise in both parties. It suggests both parties suffer from “growing radicalism”. Well that is certainly true on the Left which has turned to Socialism, unending protests which often turn violent, tacit ambivalence toward political violence, and widespread support for the insanity which is the SAFE T Act. How many more Bethany Magees must be victimized before Democrats acknowledge the SAFE T Act is an abomination?

STATEMENT ON PASSAGE OF THE COOK COUNTY FY2026 BUDGET
Today, the Cook County Board passed a truly balanced FY2026 budget, with no new taxes and no new fees. A result made possible by the pragmatic approach and fiscal responsibility this Board has exercised over the past nine years. That sustained discipline has placed Cook County in a far stronger financial position than many of our governmental counterparts, particularly the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois. Both of which continue to struggle with chronic structural deficits.
Cook County’s fiscal stability did not happen overnight. It is the product of long-term planning, responsible spending decisions, and a commitment to protecting taxpayers from the kind of financial turmoil seen elsewhere.
While we are on solid footing today, we cannot afford to become complacent.
Economic headwinds are certain in the years ahead, and maintaining this level of fiscal discipline will be essential to preserving our stability and safeguarding the services our residents rely on.
Pragmatic governance and responsible budgeting brought us to this point. Staying the course will ensure Cook County remains financially strong well into the future.
Commissioner Sean M. Morrison
17th District – Cook County

In Illinois, you don’t register with a party. At the primary, you simply choose which party’s ballot you want. You can switch each primary. If you pick non-partisan by mail, you may not get a ballot if no non-partisan issues are on it.
