As springtime temperatures roll in, we encourage you to be aware of the rising potential of panhandling incidents.

Always remain alert of your surroundings and avoid stopping it approached.

However, if approached, do not give cash unless your immediate safety is threatened. In that situation, give up personal belongings and escape.

Redirect those in need to appropriate city services instead of inviting them to campus.

This week is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Illinois.

Always stay informed by monitoring weather alert radio or news, have an emergency plan and designated meetup spots, prepare yourself and your home, and have an emergency supply kit.

In case of tornado, seek shelter in a sturdy structure. For hail, wind, or thunderstorms and lightning, move indoors away from windows. In case of flooding, avoiding rising creeks and water-covered roads.

Be sure to check out https://www.weather.gov/ilx/severe-prep for more information on how to navigate severe weather situations.

September is Campus Safety Awareness month, and it is when we conduct our annual test of Moody Alert, our emergency mass notification system. The test for the Chicago campus will take place on Tuesday, September 29 at 10:45am. Make sure your contact information is up to date by going to https://getrave.com/login/moody and signing in with your Moody credentials.

Considering the precautions we have in place due to COVID-19, we are not performing a lockdown drill as we normally would during this month. Instead, when you receive the Moody Alert Test, there will be a reminder to think through your actions in the event of a lockdown.

If you have additional questions about the test, you can contact Public Safety by emailing [email protected] or calling 312-329-4357.

Do not reuse medical masks without properly disinfecting the mask.
Reusable masks should be washed regularly.
Face shields do not qualify as a face covering on campus (except where explicitly allowed).
As soon as you are done eating, please replace your face covering.

COVID-19 effects cities and organizations in different ways.
