Neighbor-Space NeighborSpace is Chicago's community garden land trust.

NeighborSpace is the only nonprofit urban land trust in Chicago that preserves and sustains gardens on behalf of dedicated community groups. We shoulder the responsibilities of property ownership — such as providing basic insurance, access to water, and links to support networks – so that community groups can focus on gardening. NeighborSpace-protected gardens give young and old alike an opportunity to get their hands in the earth and enjoy nature, right in their own neighborhoods.

Honored to join Angela Taylor from Garfield Park Community Council today to talk about the Orchards on Fox 32 Chicago

The Garfield Park Community Orchards project is converting 10 vacant lots into community gardens designed to promote food access and less flooding. Project leaders join Good Day Chicago to discuss its impact on West Side residents.

The Garfield Park Community Orchards project grew out of a series of 2015 meetings about preparing for extreme weather events in the West Side neighborhood.

Come join us at the Joe-Ella Williams Memorial Garden for a planting event.

Lovely weather is predicted for this Sunday (71°-56°) and we will be planting a TON of donated berries in the Joe-Ella Williams Memorial Garden at 3817 W Flournoy St. There will be free snacks, free drinks, and free community connection!

We will be planting:

- 10 Blackberries
- 7 Raspberries
- 3 Cherries
- 2 Honeyberries
- 1 Juneberry
- 1 Mulberry
- 1 Black Currant
- 1 Partridge in a Pear Tree

That last item is a joke! We gardeners have fun. Please consider coming out to support this local garden in a food desert.

Appreciate you! Hope to see you there!
