Illinois Warrior to Warrior is always seeking new volunteer Veterans to attend drill weekends to serve our current guardsmen. Volunteers typically spend 2-3 hours 1 weekend a month with their assigned unit or armory. We know that no one knows the struggles that come along with reintegration better than Veterans. In recognition of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, The Road Home Program will be hosting an “MST Wellness Day” for MST survivors on Monday, April 24th from 11am to 3pm. Survivors are invited to a day of experiential activities targeting overall wellness including mindfulness meditation, yoga, massage therapy, acupuncture, and art. A healthy (and free) lunch will be provided. This event is open to any MST survivor regardless of age, gender, discharge status, or enrollment in treatment. Participants do not need to be Road Home Clients to participate. Pre-registration is required to attend – the link to register is on the flyer.

HDA’s is working on an exciting new project to improve access to mental health services and supports for Women Veterans.

We are looking for willing providers to
• Participate in a round table discussion about intake procedures and questionnaires.
• Attend in-service lunch-and-learn about best practices in working with women Veterans.
• Use Personal Health Inventory or Wheel of Health to assess needs of women Veterans.
• Share your successes or challenges with using the intake and assessment tool for making referrals.
• Review toolkit and further recommendations.

Providers get
• One-on-one technical training,
• Improved wait times for your patients,
• Lighter caseloads,
• Improved patient interactions, and
• Reduction in inappropriate office visits
