Spencer Leak Jr.: A Life of Service, Compassion, and Community
June 1, 2026|Black History, BUFI, Chicago
The Black United Fund of Illinois (BUFI) extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and countless lives touched by Spencer Leak Jr.
Chicago lost more than a businessman — we lost a pillar of compassion, dignity, and service to our community. Through generations of service at Leak & Sons Funeral Homes, Spencer Leak Jr. helped families through some of their hardest moments with care, grace, and humanity. His work reflected a deep commitment to uplifting people regardless of circumstance.
On Chicago’s South Side, certain names become institutions because of what they mean to the people. The Leak family name has long stood for service, respect, and community responsibility, and Spencer Leak Jr. carried that legacy proudly.
BUFI honors his life, his leadership, and his commitment to helping others. We pray for strength, peace, and comfort for the Leak family and all who mourn this tremendous loss.
