Representation matters.

I was proud to join LEARN Romano Butler School for its annual Tied to Greatness ceremony, pouring into 8th-grade young men as they received new ties and words of encouragement on their journey into manhood.

Events like this matter because our young men deserve to see positive examples from different professions, backgrounds and walks of life showing up and reminding them of what’s possible.

When we invest our time, mentorship and encouragement in our young men, we invest in their future.

United Way of Metro Chicago and 211 Metro Chicago are partnering with Lyft and the City of Chicago to help residents on the South and West Sides access free ride credits for trips to grocery stores and other essential destinations.

Requirements:
Live in one of the following zip codes (60624, 60629, 60621, 60649, 60617, 60643,
60628, 60619, 60620)

Call 2-1-1 Monday-Friday from 7am-3:30pm, complete a brief screening, and receive a
$25 Lyft ride credit, until 9/30

Call up to two times ($50 value)
2-1-1 Resource Navigators can also help residents download the Lyft app, add the code to
their account, and book a ride.

Partnerships like this are just one way United Way is helping people meet their basic needs. 211 Metro Chicago is a 24/7/365 health and social services helpline for residents across Cook County.

Registration is now open for the Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Second Chance Summit!

Join in on October 10 at Kennedy-King College from 8:30 am -4 pm for an Expungement and Sealing Fair designed to help eligible Cook County residents take the next step toward clearing their records.

Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. Participants must upload their RAP sheet and/or Illinois State Police Criminal History Record by September 25.
