Metropolitan Family Services has 1,200 full- and part-time professional staff dedicated to providing quality services to families throughout Chicago, DuPage County, Evanston/ Skokie and the southwest suburbs. Big thanks to the United Airlines Cargo team for an incredible day of service at the North Center! Volunteers boosted our outdoor space with 65 bags of mulch, helped our Early Childhood Education team with a full deep clean, and powered a job‑readiness event where workforce clients rotated through stations for resume support, elevator‑pitch coaching, and mock interviews.

During a speed-round activity, workforce clients rotated from station to station to meet with United Airlines Cargo team members, receiving valuable real-world advice on resume reviews, elevator pitches, and mock interviews to help build confidence and prepare for future career opportunities.

To all our volunteers, thank you for sharing your time, talents, and expertise! You helped create a welcoming, encouraging environment where our workforce clients could learn, grow, and take the next step toward their career goals.

Over 150 walkers joined us for the Hope in Every Step Domestic Violence Awareness Walk this year, and we're thankful for every step they took in showing their support. 💜 Special thanks to DuPage County Board Member Yeena Yoo for joining us!

McDonald's celebrated their Volunteer Month in September by showing extraordinary commitment to Metropolitan Family Services, supporting three centers with three meaningful projects. ✨

Volunteers cleared overgrown landscaping at our Emergency Domestic Violence Shelter, installed a long‑missing playground component at the St. Andrews Early Childhood Center (giving kids a safe place to play for the first time in five years!), and removed hazardous corkboard from the Midway Learning & Wellness Center.

These were tough jobs, but McDonald’s volunteers stepped up with positive energy, care, and community spirit. We are so grateful for their partnership and the impact they made. Thank you McDonald's!

Congrats to our Workforce Development Team! Their work resulted in MFS being honored with the City of Chicago’s Community Partner Champion Award for impact through workforce programming, resident support, collaboration and connections to employment and critical resources.

The award was presented at the 2026 Fall Citywide Career Fair at Kennedy King College, hosted by Mayor Brandon Johnson and Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership. The Fair connects Chicago residents with employment opportunities across high-demand industries while strengthening coordination among City, County, community and private-sector partners.

Thank you to VML for spending their employee service day with us recently at our Howard & Evanston Community Center (HECC)! Starting at our main HECC building, volunteers helped us organize games and learning resources for client families and take inventory of supplies for an upcoming Adult Education event. They then lent a hand at our HECC Family Center, assembling a bookcase and organizing the library. We truly appreciate all the hard work done on behalf of the clients we serve.
