ICE is torturing the 500+ people on hunger and labor strike since Oct 6 at the Folkston concentration camp in Georgia.

Over a week without food, all while enduring torture.

(ACTION listed at end of post)

According to Shut Down FIPC, the strikers' demands include:

-Immediate release

-Due process

-Stop abusive treatment

These asylum seekers, some of whom have been trapped inside for over two years, have been denied due process and are not criminals.

They have a right to protection from prosecution abroad that is enshrined in US law).

Their rights to dignity, protection from cruel and unusual punishment, and due process are all being violated.

ICE is retaliating through:

- Sleep deprivation (a form of torture under international law)

- Unlawful solitary confinement, lasting at least 2 months for at least 30 strikers (solitary for over 15 days is a form of torture under international law). The solitary unit is now completely full. At least three people have fallen unconscious while in solitary.

Conditions inside also include:

Abusive treatment. Humiliation. Shouting. Threats. Deprival of basic human needs. Sending people to the unit for people with criminal records, hampering their chances in court, without cause.

Medical neglect (One asylum seeker was told, "I have no obligation to treat you; the only thing that matters to me is that you don't drop dead.") No emergency buttons. No dentist -- people have merely been put on painkillers for YEARS instead of treatment.

Leaking ceilings. Mold, including on mattresses. Constant darkness. No sunlight.

People have been told to drink toilet water.

Each week, they only get ONE shower and ONE hour of fresh air.

Food lacks nutrition and is spoiled. People are denied medically necessary special diets.

Air conditioning is left on full blast or not at all, leaving people freezing or struggling to breathe.

Spouses held at separate camps are not allowed to communicate.

Commissary items are stolen for no reason.

One of the leaders was deported without due process in an act of retaliation.

Federal agents have raided the home of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar in an act of political violence.

The first Somali-American, Muslim legislator in the United States, Omar is a staunch advocate for her community. She has fought for housing affordability, labor rights, climate justice, and child nutrition.

Her passion for improving her community has been rewarded with a decade-long baseless smear campaign that has now escalated to violence.

In a post on social media today, Omar wrote:

"I'm ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.

I will not be silenced."

We suspect this raid was an attempt to lay the groundwork for Trump to refuse to seat her when the new Congress is sworn in.

This raid occurred in the context of all the efforts to eliminate Democratic seats, stop Democratic voters from having their ballots counted, intimidate voters with ICE agents at polling places, and generally define the make up of the next Congress through force and coercion.

Over the weekend, ICE ran over an innocent man and is now lying about it.

Saturday morning, an ICE agent hit a man with a car, breaking his leg in three places. Nearby camera footage shows the man running in a parking lot when the ICE vehicle swerved and accelerated, hitting him from behind.

The victim, Miguel Parra, is a Houstonian who has lived in the U.S. for 34 years, since he was a child.

When ICE ran him over, he collapsed on the cement. He was eventually taken to a hospital, but only after over 48 hours of waiting did he finally received one of the many surgeries he needs.

Now he is in the custody of the very ICE agents who ran him down. The agents who brutally assaulted him are now openly mocking him and abusing their authority over him.

Miguel Parra was not even the target of ICE's search that day. He had no ties to their target.

This morning at the hospital, ICE agents also denied him his legal right to speak with his attorney. ICE kicked the attorney and a representative from FIEL Houston out of the room, then called the police on them. He had every right to have a confidential conversation with his attorney.

In addition, the agents claimed Parra had been detained, but there is no indication that that is true. He has not been granted an A-number, nor has ICE officially processed him.

Parra's family is deeply concerned about his health.

Today he received surgery on his leg. He has an injury on his hip and just below his knee, as well as a fractured ankle. But he will need multiple more surgeries for them to reconstruct his broken leg, and he will not be able to put any weight on it for at least six weeks.

Now ICE has alleged in a statement that "Parra-Hernandez ran in front of an ICE vehicle and was struck."

Video footage proves that could not be farther from the truth.

For a normal person, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon could lead to 2-20 years in prison in Texas.

But for ICE agents, there is no accountability. The perpetrator remains unidentified.

When the first legal challenges to the so-called "Alligator Alcatraz" surfaced, DHS immediately switched to using existing military bases like Camp East Montana at Fort Bliss.

Places where people are held in cruel conditions, literally tortured in 'hot boxes', and where at least one homicide has occurred.

But these military base concentration camps, however inhumane they are, did not provide the capacity that Trump and DHS wanted.

They wanted the ability to house hundreds of thousands of immigrant hostages at a time, all over the country, without due process.

The next move was to start buying up empty warehouses and convert them into 10,000-bed concentration camps.

Then public outcry derailed that plan, leading to the removal of Kristi Noem as DHS secretary – but not until she set a billion dollars on fire with the failed warehouse purchases.

Now, under DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, they’re pivoting again.

By purchasing privately owned facilities outright, DHS gets a functional detention center with a turnkey operation, newly minted as a federal building.

That gives the federal government extraordinary control over the property and allows them to evade state regulations and congressional oversight.

As an added bonus, the private contractors selling these facilities get to keep operating them under a new contract.

So Trump’s private prison donors get a double windfall – flush with cash from the purchase and a fat new government contract to maintain and operate the facilities indefinitely.

Now David Venturella, acting director of ICE, has sealed another deal was worth nearly a billion dollars. Our analysis expects them to spend another 2-3 billion before years’ end.

The purchase, totally $950 million, gives the government ownership of the Adelanto concentration camp in California, where people have bravely gone on hunger strike to stand up against the violations of their rights.

The purchase also includes the Desert View Annex, which neighbors Adelanto. People held captive at Desert View also participated in a hunger strike earlier this year over the cruel conditions they are subjected to.

That billion dollar payout went to GEO Group, which until last year was the previous employer of Venturella – where he was the head of business development.

GEO Group is holding people hostage in torturous conditions, letting people die from preventable medical emergencies, allowing tuberculosis outbreaks inside their facilities, and ringing in massive profits.

And now they have a former executive running the cash grab from the inside.

It is part of their business model.

Just weeks after ICE shot Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez in his car in Austin, ICE agents shot a man in his car again in New York City.

This time with the victim's five year old son in the backseat.

Yesterday ICE agents surrounded a man's vehicle and opened fire, unprovoked. Again, the victim was taken to the hospital, only for ICE to rush him away hours later in an unmarked vehicle to an undisclosed location.

(One livestreamer caught the scene as a caravan of ICE vehicles fled the hospital, even striking a bystander on a bicycle.)

There were at least two bullet holes to the rear driver's side window, and one bullet hole to the body of the car behind that window.

Clear indications that some of the gunfire entered through the rear of the vehicle where the 5-year-old child was seated.

That is reckless endangerment of a child.

Mayor Mamdani released a statement saying that the child is physically unharmed.

However, the trauma of being shot at and watching secret police disappear your wounded parent will last a lifetime.

As protesters gathered, ICE agents moved swiftly to canvas the neighborhood, going door to door fishing for “evidence.”

Darializa Avila Chevalier, the Democratic nominee for NY-13, and State Senator Gustavo Rivera, followed the agents and reminded residents that they do not have to speak to the officers.

The facts are still emerging, but here’s what we do know so far:

- The victim, Oscar Belgal, was pulling into a parking space when two ICE agents wearing construction vests and masks approached, one with a gun drawn. At least one of the agents fired seven rounds, hitting Belgal below his ear. He is one of over 20 people who ICE has shot during Trump's second term.

- Belgal's legal representation has not been able to communicate with him, and his medical condition is unknown.

- The agent involved has a history of excessive force and illegal arrests.

- The pattern of firing on a civilian vehicle with unknown occupants demonstrates a continued disregard for human life that lies at the rotting core of this agency.

- It’s a pattern of behavior consistent with people who believe they'll never have to face accountability.

Pedro is an active duty service member in the U.S. Army. His wife, Giovanna, has lived in the U.S. since she was six years old. She has a clean record, and together they are raising four U.S. citizen children.

The Texas couple did everything right, filing a petition that was approved and following the necessary steps to citizenship that the government promises military families.

But when Giovanna went to pick up her military IDs at the base, it was a trap. ICE arrested her and now plans to deport her.

Even though she is the wife of an active duty service member.

Even though they have four U.S. citizen kids.

Even though her record is clean, her petition was approved, and they did everything right.

This is how ICE rewards service members.

By tearing their families apart.

A new concentration camp for unaccompanied children in Louisiana.

37 deaths in ICE custody this fiscal year alone.

Over 160 emergency calls (that we know of).

This is the deadliest year on record for people in ICE custody, and the full story is being kept from us by some of the most respected medical institutions in the country.

The people best positioned to expose all of this are the medical providers working inside these camps.

Doctors, nurses, and medics tend to the people locked in these facilities.

They witness the neglect and the deaths firsthand.

Licensed providers are bound by oath and by law to report ethics violations, and those reports move up the chain to institutions like the American Medical Association, the American Nurses Association, and the Federation of State Medical Boards.

The boards receive the documentation, yet they haven’t released any information to the public and not a single ICE facility has faced any accountability for burying what its own providers reported from inside these camps.

The boards with that power owe the country a full public account of every atrocity and every instance of medical neglect in ICE custody.

That's why we're sending a message to the heads of America's medical associations and state licensing boards, demanding they publicly report on the dangerous and deadly conditions inside ICE concentration camps.
