In a rare U.S. interview with President Miguel Díaz-Canel, ‘Cuba After Castro’ goes beyond the headlines to explore the island’s revolutionary history and turbulent present, revealing an unprecedented portrait of the man tasked with steering its future.

🗓️ Saturday, June 6

📍Northeastern Illinois University (5500 N. St. Louis, BBH 102, Entrance on Catalpa)

Directed by Abby Martin of the Empire Files & Matthew Belen of BreakThrough News — behind Gaza Fights For Freedom and The Encampments respectively — this is an essential film for anyone who wants to understand the critical situation in Cuba today.

Cuba has been demonized by the U.S. media and political establishment for decades. As the Trump administration accelerates its aggression with a total fuel blockade and threatens to invade Cuba on top of six decades of cruel U.S. sanctions and blockade, this film presents a view into Cuba’s psyche that people in the U.S. have long been deprived of.

✨The film viewing will be followed by a brief discussion.

✊🏿 ICE OUT OUR CITY NOW!

Today, in Albany Park, ICE agents crashed their car into a bystanders vehicle to corner and brutalize a man they were chasing. Join us to demand that ICE get out of our communities and be dismantled as an institution!

🗓️ Wednesday, June 3
⏰ 7:00 P.M.
📍 Horner Park (Corner of Montrose & California)

ICE agents continue to terrorize our neighborhoods and agent activity has been picking up around Chicago the past few weeks. Just months ago the people of Minnesota dealt the Trump administration a blow by shutting their city down. We call on the people of Chicago to stand up and show out against ICE terror. The people united can defeat the Trump administration!

📢 ABOLISH ICE! FUND THE PEOPLES NEEDS, NOT MASS DEPORTATIONS!!

06/02/2026

Video from Violet Miller of the Chicago Sun-Times shows ICE agents crash their car into a bystanders vehicle to cut off a man they were chasing in Albany Park. Community members who came out to record and protest the kidnapping were threatened by the masked ICE agents. One ICE agent reportedly dropped a magazine full of ammunition at the scene.

Even though Midway Blitz is over, federal agents are still terrorizing our communities as part of the Trump’s administration’s racist push for mass deportations. ICE is getting billions of dollars to arrest and imprison our neighbors, while working people in Chicago are seeing SNAP benefits cut and prices for gas and groceries climb.

Money for people’s needs, not the deportation machine! Abolish ICE!!

🇨🇺 Join us for a rally against the Trump administration’s genocidal attack on the Cuban people and their country’s sovereignty!

🗓️ Wednesday, June 5
⏰ 5:00 P.M.
📍 Federal Building

The U.S. government is preventing fuel from entering the country, which is causing infant mortality to skyrocket, and child cancer survival rates to plummet. The Cuban people should not be punished for standing up for their right to self-determination, and collective punishment is a crime against humanity. Stand with Cuba!

Right now, RNs at Prime Saint Mary of Nazareth hospital are standing up against their employer’s illegal crackdown on their unionization efforts!

The hospital fired four nurses for passing out flyers outside of employee entrances just days after filing to join the National Nurses Organizing Committee/ — which is legally protected union activity. We support the nurses in their struggle to make their workplace safer for both patients and workers.

“Money for health and education, not for war and deportation!”

Chicago veterans, active duty soldiers, and community members are marching to demand an end to the war on immigrant communities as well as the wars on Iran, Lebanon, Cuba, and Palestine.

Memorial Day began as “Decoration Day,” initiated by the revolutionary abolitionists who defeated slavery by walking off the plantations and taking up arms against the Confederacy. Today and every Memorial Day, we uplift and carry on the roots of its true revolutionary origins!

Memorial Day 1937 was a dark day in U.S. history, but few Chicagoans have ever even heard about it. In order to build a mass fightback movement, we must study and share our country’s real history of resistance and repression.

Join us in fighting for a world like the Memorial Day martyrs envisioned: pslweb.org/action
