🗞️ Το ΒΗΜΑ της Ομογένειας επιστρέφει για 2ο κύκλο!

Οι μαθητές και οι μαθήτριες των ελληνικών σχολείων της Διασποράς παίρνουν ξανά τον λόγο και γίνονται οι ίδιοι μικροί δημοσιογράφοι, δημιουργώντας τις δικές τους εφημερίδες! 🇬🇷

Μέσα από την πρωτοβουλία της Γενικής Γραμματείας Αποδήμου Ελληνισμού και Δημόσιας Διπλωματίας, σε συνεργασία με την Alter Ego Media και την εφημερίδα «Το Βήμα», οι νέοι της Ομογένειας έχουν την ευκαιρία να εκφράσουν τις ιδέες και τις εμπειρίες τους, να καλλιεργήσουν την ελληνική γλώσσα και να ενισχύσουν τη σύνδεσή τους με την Ελλάδα.

Οι μαθητικές ομάδες που θα συμμετάσχουν θα λάβουν υποστήριξη και καθοδήγηση από δημοσιογράφους του «Βήματος», μέσα από μια σειρά ειδικών διαδικτυακών σεμιναρίων (webinars).

A heartfelt thank you to Hellenic American Leadership Council and Chicago Sister Cities International for partnering with the Consulate General of Greece in Chicago to host a warm welcome reception in honor of our athletes.

🇬🇷 The marathon holds a special place in the hearts of Greeks. Today, Athens was proudly honored among the participating cities at the Chicago Sister Cities International Marathon Ceremony, celebrating the spirit of community, determination and perseverance that unite runners and everyone involved in the marathon journey.

Run strong, run proud and enjoy every mile! 👏

🏃 Why is a 26.2 miles?

Ahead of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, here's a little HISTORY:

📍 The first organized marathon was run at the 1896 . The ancient Games never included a race this long.

📍 It was inspired by the legend of a messenger who ran from Marathon to Athens (about 40 km) to announce victory in 490 B.C.

📍 For a few Olympics, the distance stayed near 25 miles. Then the 1908 London Games extended the course. In 1921 the marathon was officially standardized at (42.195 km).

📍 Today, US hosts more than 1,100 marathons a year. Finishers grew from an estimated 25,000 in 1976 to 507,000 by 2016.
