I disagree with the statement, Mr. Long; he was 19 years old and a veteran who had made a brave decision. What I met today was a changed man; he was one of the most respected and humble persons I have met under his circumstances.

It was a pleasure for my team to provide moral support to Mr. Long today, as he was released from IDOC in March 2026, having served as the longest-serving inmate with over 63 years of incarceration, initially incarcerated in 1962. He was remarkably humble, a 19-year-old veteran at the time of his offense, and we praise God for His blessings.
