A warm, sunny spring Wednesday brought out 95 of our clients, who shopped for their 241 family members, selecting from a full array of groceries in every category.
We appreciate all of our volunteers’ efforts throughout the week to make everything work smoothly on Wednesday to get our clients food and on their way home quickly!

Through collaborations with Katherine Anne Confections, J.T.’s Genuine Sandwich Shop, Perkolator, and Distinct Bath And Body, to name a few, we're able to offer clients sweet treats, specialty coffee, and artisanal goods that uplift our community. 💕

In 1979, Greater Chicago Food Depository opened the first food bank in Illinois with a mission to bring hope and end hunger in the community.

The Depository has since grown to support a local network of 850+ pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and programs that advances its mission to end hunger.

We served 91 families today, 69 at the Pantry and 22 homebound deliveries. A handful of families were new to the Pantry and were thankful for the food. We couldn’t help these people without our supporters, both donors and volunteers. So thank you to those who have given their time and/or donations.

We received 7,824 pounds of food today for our weekly distribution. Volunteers and staff were able to get MOST of it in before the intense rain started, and were troopers getting the last 10 minutes of food in.

We appreciate Carlson Community Services and Merchant Gardens who nurture community gardens. Donations from their harvests make a difference in our clients' lives. These partnerships inspired us to create our own Pantry herb garden!
