SAVE THE DATE. Now that the election is down to two candidates, it is essential that 7th Ward voters get the chance to hear from the incumbent and challenger. This will be a fantastic opportunity to do so. I will update this post when a date is finalized .
Greetings Friends,
I am writing you today with a simple message: Thank you and let's continue our work to transform the 7th Ward !!!
The past several months have represented an extraordinary journey; one that I am honored to have embarked on. Along the way, I was afforded the opportunity to not only lend a concerned ear to the needs and concerns of our residents and community stakeholders, but to also articulate my plan for transformation for the 7th Ward. While we came short of achieving our optimum goal, I am eternally inspired and motivated to continue to serve our community, while engaging & empowering my neighbors, as a vested and active citizen of the ward.
I want to sincerely thank all of my staff and volunteers, who dedicated countless hours to door-knocking, phone-banking, and voter engagement. Likewise, I am immensely grateful to those who invested monetarily and the scores of stakeholders, including ministers and community leaders, who provided me with the opportunity to communicate my vision to their respective members. Of course, I am humbled by those of you who offered a signature form of support - your vote for me !!!!
Our pursuit of growth and transformation for the 7th Ward and the entire City of Chicago is far from complete. So that our recent hard work is not in vain, we must seriously analyze the remaining candidates for Mayor and Alderman and judge them on their track records, public policy positions and plans to address the pressing issues facing our community.
You may ask, what's next ? I strongly encourage you to elevate your community engagement by attending upcoming candidate forums, participating in voter registration/education initiatives, voting on April 7th and holding our leadership and each of us accountable for improving our neighborhoods and securing our futures. The last day to register to vote is March 10th. Early voting is from March 23rd through April 3rd.
