Hinata Farms is a 1/8 acre Japanese heritage farm located on the southside of Chicago. Founded in 2020, Hinata Farms’ mission is to provide locally-grown and culturally-relevant produce to the Japanese and broader Asian community in Chicago.

It was in Japan!
It has been Japanese tradition and culture to appreciate & respect elderly.
This tradition was widely introduced to the world by Dr. Erdman Palmore through this book called The Honorable Elderlies.

Although recent study shows that elderlies’ life satisfactions are lowering lately. Some think that due to increasing population of elderly, people may not appreciate them as much anymore.

How do you show respect and care for elderlies? Their wisdom are powerful and often help us navigate our lives!

日本は高齢者を敬うことが慣わしで、日本に「敬老の日」があるというのも今では知られていることですが、一昔前は国外では知られていないことでした。
このことが世界的に知られることになったきっかけは1975年にデューク大学のパルモアという老年社会学の学者が下記の本を出したことがきっかけでした。
しかし、最近の日本の高齢者は他国に比べて幸福度が低くなってきているデータがあります。中には高齢者が増え過ぎて有り難みが減少してきてるのではないかという意見もあります。

皆さんは敬老の日、どのように過ごしましたか？
お年寄りの知恵や経験には沢山の教えが詰まっています。たまにはゆっくりお話しをしたり、アドバイスをもらったりしてみたら、私たちの人生の幅も広がるのではないでしょうか。

September 5-11 was ***deprevention week.

Unfortunately, Japan is know for high su***de rate due to overworking culture and stress.

Social works, teachers, and all frontline workers in Japan are called .

Government also share Gate Keeper Book with tons of helpful tip!

Maybe we can all learn 1 or 2 tips to help people around us.

9/5-9/11は自殺撲滅週間でした。

残念ながら、日本は自殺率が高いことが世界的にも知られています。

福祉の仕事をする人や、教師の方々は、ゲートキーパーと呼ばれて、日頃から色々な形でサポートを提供しています。

厚生省作のガイドブックは、私たちでも出来そうなアドバイスがたくさん載っています。
もし思い当たる人がいるならば、是非実践してみましょう！
