Shonnie's Platform for New Leadership

Issue: Democracy

Problem: Citizens have been alienated from government decision-making. Solution: Engage residents of the 7th Ward in participatory government where citizens are empowered to have a voice in policy and budgeting. As Alderman, I will host meetings with residents to inform them of existing ordinances and proposed legislation to inform their thi

This is it people! April 7th as finally arrived. It's a political Do or Die day! Do exercise your right to Vote or Die complaining about what the person elected hasn't done, won't do or didn't plan to do. I think the choices are clearly defined. If we really want change let our vote be representative of that. Time to end the political quid quo pro, and usher in a new era of accountability. I'm not an undecided voter. I've decided to cast 2 votes for change... Greg Mitchell for 7th Ward Alderman and Chuy Garcia for Mayor.

Wow!! A CPS Educator, mother of 3, Pastor's wife, community organizer becomes a major contender in an Aldermanic election because people are ready for change!
I want to offer a heartfelt thank you to all of my supporters; family, friends, church members, campaign staff, co-workers, neighbors and 7th Ward residents. Thank you for your words of encouragement and vote of confidence. Thank you for the giving of your time, talents, and dollars. None of this would have been possible without you!!
We ran a great grassroots campaign with integrity and decency. I am proud of my campaign and humbled by the outpouring of support. Collectively, we made an impact! Our efforts were not in vain! We move forward, advocating for everyday people who live in the 7th Ward and greater Chicago. The electoral race is finished, but our unified fight to bring democracy, equity, and economic justice continues on...
God Bless!

It's important that all of our CPS students receive a high quality education that is rigorous and well-rounded with access to the arts and political engagement. As Alderman, I will continue to fight for an Elected School Board, equity in school funding, services and resources. The students of Gwendolyn Brooks HS were fortunate enough yesterday to have such an experience with POTUS. Punch #53 if change is what you want to see!!

2 aldermen appointed by Emanuel face challenges at ballot box 02/19/2015

"People don't want anyone associated with the Jacksons or the Beavers in the office, and there is a great deal of tension around that, because people feel like those two leaders, those two entities, had self-serving interests, and that their interest was greater than that of the everyday person," said LaShonda "Shonnie" Curry
