Friends of the Edgewater Library fosters wider recognition, use, and support of the library, enriching the cultural spirit of the Edgewater neighborhood.

Aims of the Friends of the Edgewater Library
- Bring recognition to the books, materials, programs, technology, staff, services, and building
- Support an array of library activities that deliver knowledge, skills, inspiration, and entertainment to the people of Edgewater with financial contributions and contributions of time and effort
- Support library staff development

Last Saturday, Regina and Victor put everything on the table. The Friend-raising table that is!

They had lots of folks stop by and sign up for Friends of the Edgewater Library membership. It’s a great way to support the library staff, programs for children and adults and the Edgewater community. Friends help supplement the library’s resources, advocate on behalf of the library and so much more!

We'll be outside the library (6000 N. Broadway) today from 1-3 p.m., encouraging passersby to become Friends members. Not yet a member? You can become one for as little as $10! Your donation will help us deliver programs for folks of all ages, keep the bookshelves stacked, and support a variety of services for the Edgewater community.

In observance of Juneteenth, the Edgewater Branch Library will be closed tomorrow, June 19.

On this date in 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston and announced that enslaved people in Texas were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had declared freedom for enslaved people in the Confederate states. Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021—a day of remembrance and reflection,

Edgewater was Friend-Raising Saturday: Week two!

We had lots of folks check out Friends of the Edgewater Library’s Friend-Raising table after they checked out some books. The top story: becoming a member of the Friends of the Edgewater Library!

For as little as $10, you can help us deliver great programs for neighbors of all ages, keep books on the shelves, and support services that benefit the entire Edgewater community.

We’ll be setting up our Friend-Raising table outside the library (6000 N. Broadway) every Saturday in June from 1-3 p.m. Stop by, say hello, and join a group of Friends who want to help write the next chapter for the Edgewater Branch Library.
