South Side Help Center (SSHC) is purposed to help people of all ages embrace a lifestyle of prevention against mental, physical and social ills by providing positive, healthy alternatives so that community residents can lead productive lives. South Side Help Center (SSHC) has been serving Chicago’s South Side for over thirty years. Our programs and services have grown and evolved so that we may better serve the needs of our clients and community. However, our reason for being remains the same: to provide people with positive healthy alternatives.

Through CREATE Afterschool, young people build real skills four days a week — leadership and service, career readiness, wellness and life skills, and creative arts. We also host teen nights, 4-H, youth mentoring, trips, and community events.

Tonight the Chicago skyline goes green for National 4-H Week 💚 and today, we're adding our own light to it.

We're proud to officially kick off our 4-H club at South Side Help Center! Starting today, young people in Roseland, Pullman, West Pullman, and Washington Heights have a new space to learn by doing, build leadership skills, and grow into the people our community needs.
