🔑🏡 Welcome home, Roy!

12 years ago, Roy came to LUCHA hoping to buy his first condo in Bronzeville. This year, he came back to do it all over again, and we couldn’t be happier to hand him the keys (well, to watch him pick them up!). With the help of our homebuyer counseling team and the Chicago HomeGrown program, Roy is back in the neighborhood he loves, living in a place that’s truly his own.

Roy says it best: “That only happens when you have good people by you.” We’re so grateful to be part of his journey, twice!

🏘️ Logan Square’s history shows what’s possible when communities come together to fight for housing justice.

We recently welcomed our partners at Association House of Chicago for a walking tour highlighting the people, places, and organizing that have shaped our neighborhood. From the mural we sponsored at Dill Pickle Food Co-op to the Lucy Gonzalez Parsons Apartments at the Logan Square Blue Line, each stop told a story of community advocacy in action.

As a founding member of Elevated Chicago, LUCHA helped advance the vision for affordable housing near transit through the Elevated Chicago Blue Line Table. That advocacy helped transform parking lots into homes at a time of crisis—and we continue this work today as Co-Chairs of Elevated Chicago’s Systems Change Working Group.

We’re proud of the collective action that has shaped Logan Square and grateful to keep building a future where everyone has a place to call home. 💚

Fresh coats of paint, a new kids’ play area, and revitalized landscaping!🎨

Our friends at McDonald’s Corporation spent a day at our Borinquen Bella property rolling up their sleeves and putting their time and talents toward making our spaces brighter, more welcoming, and more reflective of the community we serve.

Their impact went far beyond a day of beautification. We’re so grateful for the care, creativity, and community spirit they brought with them! ❤️

At last week's AIA Chicago Designight, our largest affordable housing development yet received special recognition for excellence in design! We're honored to be leading with a bold, colorful vision of affordable housing in our city-- providing opportunity to the people who need it most, and welcoming them with beautiful, one-of-a-kind design.

Help shape a more equitable Chicago with LUCHA! We’re hiring a Real Estate Development Associate to help bring community-driven affordable housing projects to life—from concept and acquisition through construction and welcoming residents home.

We’re looking for someone with a background in real estate development, affordable housing, or a related field, along with a strong commitment to racial, economic, and housing justice. Experience with LIHTC, the City of Chicago’s housing programs, or bilingual English/Spanish skills is especially welcome!

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Humboldt Park, with a salary of $60,000–$65,000 plus full benefits.
