Happy Halloween from Giant Letter
🎃 👻 🍫🍭 🐛🦋 🧡🤎💛📝
A giant butterfly has been living in our house since she transformed from a caterpillar a few weeks ago. She laid some big eggs and they have begun hatching. We need to rehome 50 newborn caterpillars tonight! We also have 50 wind-up butterflies. First come first serve, starting at 6pm.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Love,

Today is National Handwriting Day, National Pie Day and National Measure Your Feet Day. I’m all about handwriting, pie and measuring stuff, but I’ll be sure to measure my feet before eating my pie.

This circular island in Argentina floats and rotates constantly. Can you imagine playing Dizzy Bat on it?

I’ve been thinking about how a school of fish (or a murmuration of birds) is like an organism. It bends and transforms its shape in response to its environment. Even if a shark eats many of the fish, the “organism” will survive and recover. It may not be as forceful as a shark, but collective intelligence is a powerful skill.

This is a whale-heart. It weights 440 pounds. One of my favorite things is when I snuggle with my cat and feel his heartbeat. Seeing this whale heart makes me imagine what it might be like to hug a whale and feel its heart beat. A whale’s heart beats around 2 - 10 beats per minute and can be heard from over 2 miles away.

“The only preserved blue whale heart in the world! The blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) is the largest known animal to ever exist, larger than any dinosaur. Housed at the Royal Ontario Museum in Canada, this incredible specimen
weighs 440 pounds (200 kilograms). It was salvaged from a blue whale that washed up on the coast of Newfoundland in 2014.

Happy New Year! I hear the sunset in ATX looked very similar to Chicago’s this evening. We hope everyone in both cities and beyond had a great NYE celebration and a wonderful 1st of the year❤️
