Community, connection, and incredible views. ✨ We loved bringing together older adults from across the community and residents of Selfhelp Home for a rooftop gathering that concluded with a lovely Shabbat service. The evening was filled with conversation, new friendships, and a warm end-of-summer atmosphere.



Thank you to the partners who made this evening possible, including CJE Metro, My Go-To Place, and Selfhelp Home. It was a wonderful evening of bringing people together!

Join CJE Metro and My Go-To Place, in partnership with Selfhelp Home, for an end-of-summer Shabbat on the rooftop at Selfhelp Home! Come socialize and connect with other older adults in the community, as well as residents of Selfhelp Home. The evening will begin with Shabbat services, followed by mingling and light refreshments.

Rooftop Shabbat will take place rain or shine! In the event of inclement weather, we’ll move indoors while keeping the same beautiful views and warm atmosphere.

Join us for a meaningful afternoon assembling diaper packs to support local families! We are partnering with Bundled Blessings, a local diaper bank that distributes roughly 47,000 diapers a month to over 900 children in our community. Diapers are a critical expense not covered by federal assistance programs like SNAP or WIC, making them a major gap for families in need.

By volunteering your time to pack these essentials, you are directly helping parents access childcare, return to work, and ensure their babies stay healthy:

We had a fantastic turnout at CJE Metro Tech Hour! Participants stopped by for personalized help with their devices, and our volunteers were on hand to provide one-on-one support with email, smartphones, tablets, and more.

Tech Hour is a welcoming space where community members can build confidence and stay connected through technology. We love seeing everyone learn, grow, and support one another!

Join CJE Metro and the CALM Foundation and Rescue for a meaningful, hands‑on volunteer experience connecting older adults from the community with residents of The SelfHelp Home! Together, we’ll assemble small, temporary shelters that help protect street cats across the city.

Inspired by the Jewish value of compassion for animals (tz’ar ba’alei chayim), participants will work side by side—building connections, fostering purpose, and giving back. The CALM Foundation and Rescue will supply materials and place the finished shelters where they’re most needed. Come build, connect, and make a positive impact!
