During National Fire Prevention Week (October 4-10), we recognize the importance of preparedness, prevention, and early awareness in protecting people, property, and communities.

Effective fire prevention begins long before an emergency occurs. It depends on informed communities, strong partnerships, reliable situational awareness, and the continued work of fire service and public safety professionals across the country.

At ALERTWest, we are proud to support that broader mission by helping provide actionable wildfire intelligence and situational awareness when it matters most.

Preparedness strengthens communities. Awareness supports faster, more informed decisions.

ALERTWest is heading to San Francisco for the 2026 IEEE Power & Energy Society Resiliency Summit, October 6–8.

Scott Schifando and Kevin Anderson will be meeting with utility leaders to discuss how wildfire detection and situational awareness are being integrated into utility operations, including camera network strategy, alerting, emergency response, and wildfire mitigation planning.

The focus will be practical: improving visibility, reducing detection time, and getting actionable information to the people responsible for making operational decisions.

If you’ll be at IEEE PES, reach out to Scott or Kevin to connect with the ALERTWest team.

Thank you to Jackson Hole Fire/EMS and Teton County, Wyoming for sharing a new video and press release highlighting how ALERTWest’s wildfire-monitoring camera system is supporting wildfire readiness and situational awareness across Teton County.

Last month, ALERTWest’s Kevin Anderson was on the ground assisting with the latest camera installations and is featured in the video discussing the technology and how it supports local responders.

Most importantly, the cameras are already proving their value. According to Teton County, within the system’s first month of operation, an ALERTWest camera detected a wildfire start in South Park, allowing crews to respond quickly and contain the fire within an hour.

We’re proud to partner with Teton County and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS and to support their commitment to providing first responders with earlier detection, real-time visual intelligence, and better situational awareness when every minute matters.

Watch the video below, courtesy of Teton County and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS, for a closer look at the system in action.

November 8 marks the anniversary of two of California’s most devastating wildfires, the and the , both igniting on this day in 2018.

The Camp Fire and Woolsey Fire left lasting marks on California’s communities and landscapes, reminding us of how quickly lives can change when wildfire strikes.

These tragedies remain a powerful reminder of what is at stake and why we must keep strengthening our ability to detect and respond to wildfire quickly and effectively.

Many members of our ALERTWest team lived through the Camp Fire. Their experiences continue to shape our work and strengthen our resolve to support those who protect lives, communities, and landscapes across the country.

Today, we remember those lost, support those who continue to rebuild, and appreciate those working every day to make a difference going forward.
