It has been brought to our attention that the second half of the water utility bills were brought to the post office on October 16th to be mailed out, but many citizens are still waiting for them to be delivered. Please reach out to City Hall at (309) 274-2020 to find out your total balance and due date.

We apologize for any inconvenience and are working with the Post Office to find out what has happened.

Beginning Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Truitt Road between Old Galena Road and Illinois Route 29 will be closed to through traffic for utility and culvert construction work.

Utility work on Truitt Road at the intersection with Old Galena Road will begin September 30 and last approximately 10 days, weather permitting.

Culvert work on Truitt Road west of Azbell Road (on the west side of the City of Chillicothe) will begin October 5 and last approximately 3 weeks weather permitting. A detour route using Illinois Route 29, Rome Road and Old Galena Road will be signed for traffic to follow.

Construction is expected to last until the end of October 2026. Residents along Truitt will continue to have access to their properties.
