October is and .🌠

Babies sleep safest alone, on their back, and in a crib.🌛

Babies should be placed on their backs for every sleep, including naps and nighttime, and should sleep on a firm, flat surface designed for infant sleep. Keep the baby’s sleep space free of pillows, blankets, bumper pads, stuffed animals, and other soft or loose items.

Through the Every Baby Sleeps Safe program, Ohio Department of Children and Youth provides eligible families with safe sleep education and resources. These resources help families put safe sleep recommendations into practice and give caregivers the tools and confidence they need to protect their babies.

This October, let’s make safe sleep a conversation with every family, for every baby, at every sleep. Together, we can help ensure every baby has the safest possible start.

Knowing your risk is an important part of breast health. 🎀 While anyone can develop breast cancer, certain factors may increase your risk—including age, family history, inherited genetic changes, previous chest radiation, and some lifestyle and reproductive factors.

Having one or more risk factors does not mean you will develop breast cancer. Talk with your healthcare provider about your personal and family history, your individual risk, and when breast cancer screening may be right for you.

Know your risk. Know your body. Start the conversation.

Know the signs of . 🎀

Breast cancer can occur at any age, and being familiar with changes in your breasts can help you recognize when something may need attention.

Possible signs can include a new lump or thickening, changes in breast size or shape, skin or ni**le changes, swelling, persistent breast or armpit pain, or swollen lymph nodes near the underarm or collarbone.

Not every change means cancer, but unusual or persistent changes should be discussed with a healthcare provider. Know your normal. Notice changes. Speak up.
