We have had a few people asking about Halloween plans in Chippewa Falls!

🎃🎃FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2026
Downtown Trick or Treat 3-5 PM hosted by Chippewa Falls Main Street

🎃🎃SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2026
Neighborhood Trick or Treat 5-7 PM

That gives you TWO opportunities to get your kiddos dressed up in their best Halloween costumes!

If you do plan on trick-or-treating, please be safe by:
🔦Keeping a flashlight with you so you're easily visible
🚗Watch for vehicles and don't run into the road
🧑‍🤝‍🧑Always stay by friends, family, and/or parents
🔍Thoroughly check your candy to make sure it is safe to eat
🔆Decorate dark costumes with reflective tape to be easily seen or use glow sticks
💬Talk with your children about these safety tips, and others, to make sure they know what to do to be safe this Halloween.

If you are driving in the area around Halloween, please be mindful of the additional children and pedestrian traffic. Drive slow, take your time backing-up, and watch for anyone that may suddenly run out into the roadway.

Please be respectful to each other and stay safe.

🎃🧛‍♂️HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 🐈‍⬛ 👻

🚔 National Move Over Day 🚧

Today is a good reminder that moving over isn’t just a courtesy — it’s the law.

Wisconsin’s Move Over Law requires drivers to create a safety zone when approaching certain stopped vehicles along the roadway.

➡️ On a roadway with two or more lanes traveling in the same direction: Move out of the lane closest to the stopped vehicle when you can do so safely.

🐢 If you can’t safely move over, or you’re on a single-lane roadway: Slow down and maintain a safe speed for conditions until you are safely past.

The law protects stopped law enforcement, fire, EMS, tow, utility and highway maintenance vehicles displaying required warning lights. Wisconsin law now also extends Move Over protections to certain disabled vehicles along the roadway.

📵 And remember — Wisconsin law also prohibits handheld cell phone use in emergency or roadside response areas.

For our officers and everyone else working or stranded along Wisconsin roadways, please pay attention, move over and slow down.

A little extra space can save a life.

Beginning Tuesday, October 20th, Rushman Drive (STH 124 northbound) will be again closed from the downtown roundabout to Central Street in order to accommodate construction on the Duncan Creek sanitary sewer siphon crossing just downstream from the Spring Street bridge. A detour will be posted utilizing Bridge Street and Central Street. The detour is anticipated to be in place until approximately October 28th. We thank you for your understanding as we make these important upgrades to Chippewa Falls’ infrastructure.

🐾🎉 Happy 11th Birthday, K9 Leo! 🎉🐾

Leo has been a dedicated member of the Chippewa Falls Police Department since he was just 2 years old! That's nine years of putting his nose to work, tracking down drugs, and helping apprehend suspects.

While he may look like a sweet birthday boy in this photo, don't let the party hat fool you! Leo takes his job seriously and knows when it's time to go to work. 💪🐕

Today, we're celebrating nine years of loyalty, dedication, and service to our department and community.

Please join us in wishing K9 Leo a very Happy 11th Birthday! 💙🐾

Enjoy your special day, Leo! You've earned a few extra treats!

October is Pedestrian Safety Month in Chippewa Falls!

Mayor Jason Hiess has proclaimed October as Pedestrian Safety Month and October 15 as White Cane Safety Day in the City of Chippewa Falls.
Safe, accessible streets are important for everyone—including children, older adults, people with disabilities, and individuals with vision loss. Wisconsin’s White Cane Law reminds drivers to be especially aware of pedestrians using a white cane or accompanied by a service animal and to stop at least 10 feet away.
This month, we encourage everyone to help make our streets safer. By working together and staying aware of one another, we can help prevent injuries, save lives, and make Chippewa Falls a safer community for everyone.
Let’s make pedestrian safety a priority—not just in October, but all year long!
