Today is Indigenous Peoples Day, and we’re looking forward to the second annual Family Discovery Day: Maamawai Giwii-Kikendamin (Together We Learn)! Join us and our friends from Bois Forte Heritage Center & Cultural Museum on Saturday, November 14, as we celebrate Native American Heritage Month through art, culture, food, music, and community.
This FREE, family-friendly event invites everyone to learn together through shared experiences, storytelling, and cultural traditions while celebrating Indigenous artists, educators, and community members.
🎨 10 AM–12PM | Hands-On Printmaking
Join Fire in the Village, a collective of artists and cultural organizers, for a printmaking pop-up! Create and take home a fabric patch featuring Aandeg (Crow), the Fire in the Village emblem, and other artwork by Anishinaabe artist and director Annie Humphrey Music (Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe).
🍴 12–2PM | Ojibwe-Inspired Community Meal
Enjoy a meal inspired by Ojibwe food traditions while connecting with others in our community.
A special way to give back: The first 100 guests who bring a new, unopened toy donation for the Bois Forte community will receive a free meal ticket. One toy donation = one meal ticket per person. Lunch will also be available for purchase while supplies last. 🎁
🥁 2–4PM | Cultural Showcase & Q&A
Experience a vibrant showcase of drumming, singing, and dancing, followed by opportunities to learn and ask questions. Emceed by Terry Goodsky!
❤️ Help us celebrate, learn, and grow together! Fire in the Village is joining us thanks to a 2026 Arrowhead Library System Special Libraries Grant. Thank you, Arrowhead Library System, for helping us share the stories, talents, and knowledge that make our region so special!
