Today, we remember.

September 11, 2001 changed our nation—and forever changed the fire service.

We remember the 2,977 lives lost that day. We remember the 343 FDNY firefighters who climbed those stairs while others were coming down. We remember the law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, military members, and countless ordinary people who stepped forward when they were needed most.

For those of us who serve today, September 11 is more than a date in history. It is a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, brotherhood, and commitment that this calling demands.

May we never forget those who answered their final call.

343. Never forgotten. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 HONOR. SERVICE. REMEMBRANCE.

As September 11 approaches, Nolichuckey Volunteer Fire Department joins fire departments and communities across our nation in remembering a day that forever changed the fire service and our country.

For those of us who wear the gear today, the legacy of September 11 is carried forward through service, preparation, and commitment to our communities.

The training photos we share today represent something much bigger than a drill.

We train so we’re ready when our neighbors need us.
We train for the firefighter standing beside us.
We train because answering the call means being prepared for whatever is waiting on the other side.

As we approach September 11, we remember those who answered their final call, honor the lives forever changed that day, and recognize the generations of first responders who continue to serve their communities today.

Their courage is remembered. Their sacrifice is honored. Their legacy lives on.

🇺🇸 Never Forget. 9.11.01

We are incredibly proud to announce that the Nolichuckey Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a $47,200 Volunteer Firefighter Equipment and Training Grant through the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office!

For a volunteer department, funding like this makes a huge impact. These dollars allow us to continue investing in the equipment and training our members need to respond safely, effectively, and confidently when our community calls.

Every piece of equipment we can upgrade and every opportunity we have to better train our firefighters ultimately means better protection for the people we serve.

We are extremely grateful to the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office and the State of Tennessee for continuing to invest in volunteer fire departments across our state.

Our members give their time.
Our community gives us their trust.
And grants like this give us the tools to keep answering the call.

$47,200 invested right back into protecting our community.

From all of us at Nolichuckey Volunteer Fire Department — thank you!

 Some have to be pushed.

Others have to be held back. 🔥

Know the difference.

Great teams aren’t built when everything is easy.

They’re built through training, trust, accountability, and a shared commitment to the mission.

Because when the pressure is on, preparation speaks louder than words.

Pressure doesn’t build us. Purpose does.

They won’t see the bruises, the exhaustion, the failed attempts, or the sacrifices made to become better.

They’ll only remember one thing:

That when they needed help, someone showed up who knew exactly what to do.

That’s why we train.

Train like lives depend on it… because they do.
