đź”´ Moving Forward: Facing Gun Violence Head-On
let’s speak plainly about the gun violence we are experiencing.

Again, statistics show we have some of the lowest numbers around us, but statistics don't matter when it's your neighborhood. One person shot, one person hurt, or one stray bullet whizzing by an innocent bystander is one too many.

I wish I could tell you that I have a magic switch to stop this immediately, but we all know that isn't reality. What I can promise you is absolute transparency and relentless effort.
While we have had our share of shootings, I want to make one thing completely clear: We have successfully investigated and solved every single shooting in this town that we have investigated.Following intensive investigations, our department has identified the suspects and issued arrest warrants for every single one of these incidents.
Are they all in custody yet? No. But we are working together with multiple outside agencies right now to track them down, execute those warrants, and get them off our streets.

When someone gets hurt in this town, I take it as a personal failure because the buck stops with me. I am the person you put in charge of the safety and security of everyone in this community, and I do not take that lightly.

A Plea to Our Families
The police department cannot solve a cultural issue alone. I am begging our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and mentors: Please, talk to our young people. Help them understand that gun violence is a dead end.
With gun violence, everybody loses:
• The victim's family loses because they must bury a loved one far too soon.
• The shooter's family loses because their loved one is going to spend their life behind bars.
• There are absolutely no winners here.

My Promise and Our Plan
I will continue to fight every single day to stop these shootings, but I need your help.

Moving forward, here is my promise to you: We are already working aggressively to get illegal guns off the street and have removed several, and we are not slowing down. We are shifting our strategy to prevent shootings before they happen by implementing more aggressive, high-visibility patrolling in the areas that need it most.

We will do our part on the streets. Please do your part at home. Let’s protect our town together.

A post was put by a political candidate questioning an incident that occurred Sunday night on N Main St in Church Point. I will include the post at the end of this statement but felt the need to respond for the great job that Church Point Pd officers on scene did.
Let me start by saying this was not associated with the Church Bazaar that was going on the Church Grounds. This was a large gathering of people from in and out of town 2 blocks away at the bars on N Main St as it occurs every year.
The command structure and officers were divided up to provide security for both events. Yes at least 3 fights did break out and officers there were able to quickly contain and make arrest all in all 5 people were arrested and some ran off. Officers on scene did a fantastic job resulting in their training and took control of the situation. It was then determined that the streets would be cleared which was done successfully. This operation was planned well and was performed correctly. Yes there was 5 arrest but also because of these officers doing the job correctly there also was no shooting stabbing or anyone getting seriously injured. Yes they were outnumbered not by that much but they handled the situation as it should be. We can not always pull resources from another agency to sit by in case something happens they have their areas of responsibility to tend to but did utilize them when it was felt they were needed.

This operation was a huge success and thanks to most of the people who cooperated with officers was bought under control safely and quickly. There will always be a small group to try and mess it up for the people just wanting to enjoy and have a good time. Also to the candidate who is trying to use this for political gain well the few trouble makers you paid to go out and start trouble to make this town and officers look bad well that strategy did not work. Proper planning and proper training resulted in no injuries or deaths that’s a big win thanks to Church Point PD Officers.
