Cicero Fire Department Cicero, New York Over the years, the department started out with a one bay station to now operating out of two stations which house (3) Squads, (1) Misc.

The Cicero Volunteer Fire Department was formed in the spring of 1883 by several residents of the Town of Cicero who recognized the need for a fire department to provide fire and medical coverage to those within or passing through the town. Pickup, (1) Heavy Rescue, (3) Engines, (1) Ladder Truck and (4) Chiefs Vehicles. The department has 70+ members, and answers on average of 900+ fire / ems alarms each year. In 2020 we are celebrating 137 years of service to the residents of the Town of the Cicero.

Registration is open for the Collaborative Fall EMS Teaching Day on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

This free event offers core hours and a full day of education for EMS providers, with sessions covering stroke care, medical aid in dying, de-escalation, sepsis, pre-hospital interventions, and more. Free parking, breakfast, and lunch will also be provided.

On Tuesday evening, the Cicero Fire Department was pleased to join the Cicero Police Department, NY and Onondaga County Sheriff's Office in welcoming a local Girl Scout troop.

The visit began with members of the police department sharing information about their work, including police operations, K-9s and support dogs. Cicero firefighters then talked with the Scouts about fire prevention, showed them some of our firefighting gear and gave them a closer look at one of our fire engines.

Thank you to the Girl Scouts and their leaders for visiting, and to our partners at the Cicero Police Department and Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office for helping make the evening a great opportunity to learn about local public safety.

🔥 A visit to the station to say thank you 🔥

It’s not every day that someone we’ve helped on a medical call stops by the station a few days later to thank the EMT in charge and the crew. We were grateful to see her and are glad to hear she’s doing well.

A special shout-out to the crew who responded:

The Cicero Fire Department remembers Cicero VFD Auxiliary Member Bev Owen, whom we lost one year ago.

Bev was a valued member of our department family, and her dedication to the Cicero Fire Department and its members will always be appreciated. Through her time, care, and support, she helped strengthen the close bonds that make our department more than an organization, it is a family.

A year has passed, but the love and respect we hold for Bev remain. Her memory lives on in the people she knew, the friendships she shared, and the many ways she became part of the Cicero Fire Department’s story.

Today, we pause to remember Bev and the important place she holds in our department family. She is dearly missed, fondly remembered, and will never be forgotten.
