The Women’s Fund Self-Sufficiency Simulator is helping community leaders, policymakers, employers, and educators better understand what it truly takes for families to make ends meet across Ohio.

Using the most current data available for all 88 Ohio counties, this interactive tool shows the income needed for different family types to meet basic needs without public assistance. Already used more than 5,000 times, the Simulator is helping turn complex economic data into actionable insights for communities across the state.

‼️1 in 5 families in Allen, Franklin, Hamilton, and Summit Counties are not earning enough to meet their basic needs.

That means thousands of working families are struggling to afford essentials like housing, child care, food, and health care, even while employed.

What if cost was the only thing standing between you and leadership?

For 200+ people now serving on boards and commission across Greater Cincinnati, the Women's Fund's Appointed program removed that barrier. They attended for FREE (and so can you!).

But free for participants doesn't mean free to run. Each session has significant costs to cover staffing, materials, food, and so much more.

That's where you come in. Become an Appointed Accelerator with a monthly gift to help support this impactful work.

Will you remove barriers to leadership?

Last week, we received a call from Meals on Wheels Southwest OH & Northern KY — they were behind on packing snack boxes for seniors and needed help quickly.

So we sprang into action. 💥

In true Appointed fashion, we pulled together a small but mighty volunteer team from Appointed in Motion and Greater Cincinnati Foundation, rolled up our sleeves, and got to work.

In just 90 minutes, we packed close to 300 snack boxes. They will go out to seniors across the Greater Cincinnati region next week.

We are incredibly proud of what this group accomplished in such a short time — stepping up in a moment of need, helping our neighbors, and demonstrating exactly what civic leadership looks like in action.

This is what Appointed is all about:: showing up, serving others, and making a real impact in our community.

We’re proud to share the release of our newest report: Getting Ahead While Falling Behind: Understanding Cliff Effects in Ohio’s Public Benefits Programs.

This research examines how benefit cliffs impact working families across seven Ohio counties, exploring the experiences of two different family structures in each community.

The report also highlights opportunities for employers, policymakers, and community leaders to help create stronger pathways toward self-sufficiency.
