✨ Now Open: 4 New Level 1 Apartments at Sunstone ✨

We’re excited to share that we’ve officially opened four new Level 1 apartments on our campus! 🎉

Our Level 1 housing is designed for individuals who are ready for greater independence in their recovery journey. To qualify, residents must have a minimum of 6 months of sobriety and be actively employed. With this step forward comes less oversight and a more peer-run environment, allowing residents to practice autonomy while remaining rooted in a supportive, substance-free community.

By offering Level 1 housing on-site, residents can step down from more structured support without losing the stability, relationships, and recovery-focused environment that helped them get here. This intentional transition reduces housing insecurity, supports long-term recovery, and helps residents continue building meaningful, independent lives.

This expansion reflects our commitment to seamless transitions, resident empowerment, and sustainable recovery. We’re proud to continue growing in ways that truly help people have long term success!

Recovery doesn’t happen in one leap—it happens in stages.
At Sunstone, offering both Level 2 and Level 1 recovery housing on the same campus creates a seamless path forward. Residents can stabilize, build recovery capital, and step down into greater independence without losing their support system.

Please help us welcome Trey, the newest foster pup to join the Sunstone family! He has already started making himself right at home and bringing lots of joy (and wiggles!) with him

Here’s a little about Trey:
✨ Around 3 yrs old & 35-40lbs
✨ Listens well and truly wants to please his humans
✨ Full of happy wiggles and little hops
✨ Walks well on a leash
✨ Potty trained
✨ Plays easily with kids
✨ Loves all people
✨ will sit and spin for a treat!

Trey would love to be in a somewhat active home but he is also good with relaxing and is a total love bug! 😍

🌟 Johnny’s Story: Recovery, Opportunity, and Hope in Motion 🌟

Johnny came to Sunstone after struggling with alcohol use disorder. He had just entered treatment and needed a structured, safe place to stay while rebuilding his life. At the time, he was down on his luck—his car had recently been repossessed, and stability felt out of reach.

After completing the Life Learning Center and gaining some footing, Johnny found employment at Sam’s Club. While it wasn’t his dream job, he showed up, stayed committed, and kept pushing forward while searching for new opportunities.

Around that same time, Sunstone launched our transportation program, Hope On Wheels. Johnny shared that he had prior driving experience with Amazon and was interested in being involved. He became our very first Hope On Wheels driver and quickly proved himself—reliably transporting residents and community members to appointments and services.

Because of Hope On Wheels and the partnerships it created, Johnny was later offered a position with United Carrier, a medical supplies company. This opportunity provided full-time hours and higher pay, marking a huge step forward in his journey.

Today, Johnny is thriving. He is dependable, hardworking, and living a happier, more stable life. We are incredibly proud of him and deeply grateful for the partners and opportunities that help make stories like Johnny’s possible.

We’re excited to continue watching Johnny’s progress as he rebuilds his life—one mile at a time. 💛🚐

This weekend a few of our residents had the opportunity to attend a Cincinnati Bengals game, and it couldn’t have been better. Great weather, great company, and even better results on the field — Bengals got the win! 🙌🐅

Moments like these matter. Recovery isn’t just about staying sober — it’s about building connections, enjoying life again, and creating new memories together. We’re proud of these guys for showing up for themselves and each other.

Grateful for days like this and the progress happening one day at a time. 💪🧡

Today, eight dogs have passed through Sunstone on their way to forever homes. Along the way, they’ve given our residents comfort, responsibility, joy, and healing.

Sunstone's Paws 4 Recovery program has been such a wonderful addition to our recovery homes. Having a dog can help bring people together and help us connect. In this blog we share about our first foster dog and one of our residents.

Amanda rescued Robert. But the truth is — Robert rescued Amanda, too. 💙

When Amanda met Robert at Sunstone, a life-changing bond formed. He became her responsibility, her emotional support, and eventually, her forever dog. Even when life got tough again — Robert and Sunstone stayed by her side.

Their story reminds us how deeply connected healing can be — for humans and for our four-legged friends.
