A little over a year ago John Lomax, retired long-time LOCAL 12, WKRC-TV anchor, was emcee for the USPS First Day of Issue Dedication Ceremony for the Railroad Stations Stamps Series held here at Cincinnati Union Terminal on March 9, 2023.

A few Cincinnati Railroad Club board members represented the club at this event & were able to provide Mr. Lomax with a private tour of our new club library/headquarters space on the 3rd floor & then on up to Tower A. We spent a pleasant hour enjoying those amazing Tower A views, talking about his love for CUT, answering his questions about the history of Tower A and the club, and letting him take all the photos he wanted.

He was genuinely interested in the club, having heard about us over the years from club member Jeff Hirsch, a fellow journalist who had retired a few years earlier. He joked that he would be calling to let Jeff know he got to go up to Tower A that afternoon. I wonder if he did make that call 🤔

I only took 3 photos that afternoon in Tower A -- the view out the windows, an empty Tower A, and this one of Mr. Lomax photographing the CUT train board.

Rest easy Mr. Lomax. May all your signals be green . . .

Our home is 90, which means we're 90 too 😎

🎉 HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY UNION TERMINAL!! 🎉

On March 31, 1933, a crowd and brass band filled the plaza in front of the recently completed Cincinnati Union Terminal for the dedication ceremonies to officially open the Art Deco "Masterpiece" that we cherish.

The half dome of Cincinnati Union Terminal, seen here on the first day of passenger service on March 19, 1933, was as iconic then as it is now. Union Terminal had been pressed into emergency service nearly two weeks prior to its grand opening due to floodwaters putting some of the stations it was replacing out of service.

The Cincinnati Railroad Club has called Union Terminal home since the club was founded in 1938. That's right, the club is 85 years old this year! We have spent the majority of those years meeting in various spaces within CUT and it still serves as our home today.

Once again, Happy Birthday CUT! We look forward to many more years!
