Did you know that April is the month of the Military Child. Here are some facts about "Military Brats"
1. Military Brat is a term of endearment and might be at least 100 years old. It started as British Regiment Attached Travelers (as they were called at the time). BRAT stuck and was adopted in the U.S. Now it can stand for Brave, Resilient, Adaptable and Tenacious and is used as a term of pride for our military children.
2. Dandelions represent our Military Children because they can grow and bloom just about anywhere their roots are planted.
3. There are more children than service members by a ratio of 1.4 to 1. It's not a large margin, but military children and families are important to service.
4. Military children are twice as likely to join the military.
5. More than 900,000 children have experienced deployment of one or both parents.
Deployments are hard on children and can have long term consequences.
6. Military children are resilient and grow up to be resilient adults.
7. Military families relocate 10 times more often than civilian families -- typically every 2-3 years.
Join us in honoring our Military Children all over the world. The color purple represents all branches of the military, so remember to "Purple Up" to show your support for our Nation's Military Brats.

In honor of Vietnam Veterans Day, Military and Veteran Services hosted a lunch for Easterseals Redwood staff members who served our country in the military. Welcome home to our Vietnam Veterans.
At Easterseals Military & Veteran Services, we are on a mission to help military, veterans, and their family members get the assistance they need and guide them on their path to success. Our team is made up of veterans and we have over 70 years in combined service. We are here to change the way the world views and defines veterans by enabling them to take charge of their future, but also by being the helping hand when they need it. Our goal for military members, veterans, and their family members is to break down barriers to employment, prevent and eradicate homelessness, and to assist with emergency needs. If you would like to speak with someone or need assistance, our Emergency Resource Hotline is 513-878-2200
