Today, the Cincinnati Fire Department has lost yet another legacy. Our thoughtful condolences go out to Lt. Mark Marshall's family and friends as they begin to feel the void of his vibrant spirit. CFD's tenured and retired members have fond memories of Lt. Marshall working at stations 12, 19, and 32 to name a few. But over 600 of Cincinnati Fire Department's current members know him from his time within the Training Bureau. Lt. Marshall's hard exterior commanded the attention of recruits (and shared a few choice words with them frequently), but most would come to know him as a the type of guy that you could laugh with while sharing good times for hours. Lt. Marshall believed in real fire training, and he remained committed to holding recruits to a high standard through his many years in Training. For that, this department is forever indebted.
Lt, may the bearcats always win in heaven and may your presence always be felt within the drill yard walls. Rest easy brother, we'll take it from here.

Today, one of Cincinnati Fire Department's Training Academy staff marked a moment in time that cannot be repeated. As our men and women take time to remember the late Captain Hines' legacy within our department and in training, we are also able to look forward to the future of CFD. Class 124 began their journey today, as the first class at the newly opened Cincinnati Fire Training Center. The Training Staff took time to honor the memory of those who blazed the trail for firefighters within CFD as we ushered in the next generation of CFD Firefighters. We look forward to sharing parts of their journey with you in the coming months.

Today, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the bravery of the first responders who rushed toward danger, and the resilience of a nation forever changed.
For fire fighters, this day carries a solemn weight. The 343 members of the FDNY who made the ultimate sacrifice remind us of the courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment that define our profession. Their legacy lives on in every fire fighter who answers the call to serve.
As we reflect, let us carry forward their memory with pride and continue to stand united in service, solidarity, and strength.
