For more about the Cincinnati Health Department visit www.cincinnati-oh.gov/health Founded in 1826, the Cincinnati Health Department (CHD) is committed to protecting and improving the health of the people of Cincinnati. As a nationally recognized leader in public health, CHD advocates for responsive health and human services that promote healthy living environments and social wellbeing. It strives to reduce inequities such as poverty and unemployment, which often negatively impact people’s health. CHD is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and serves 45,413 patients annually. It operates six primary care health centers, offering medical, ob/gyn, pediatrics, and behavioral health. All the centers have on-site pharmacies, and five offer dental services. CHD also runs 13 full-service school-based health centers located within Cincinnati Public Schools. These health centers, which currently serve more than 10,000 students, also serve the medical needs of children and families in the community. Five of these school-based health centers offer dental services and two offer vision services. Additionally, CHD has a free-standing dental center in Avondale.

The Cincinnati Health Department’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program kicked off National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (October 25th–31st) a little early with a Lunch n Learn at Santa Maria Community Services! The visit was a great opportunity to learn about each other’s programs and explore ways to make lead prevention services more accessible to families in Price Hill.

A special thank you to Santa Maria for hosting and helping start a conversation about future partnership opportunities!

There’s a rhythm in the breath that steadies the mind. In yogic breathing, each inhale expands the belly, ribs, and upper chest like a gentle wave moving through you.

❤️ Keeping children healthy starts with prevention.

Measles spreads easily, but it can be prevented through vaccination. The MMR vaccine provides strong protection against measles and is an important part of routine childhood immunizations.

If you have questions about measles or your child's vaccination schedule, talk with your healthcare provider. Staying informed helps keep your child, family, and community protected.

🎉 Thank you for helping us celebrate World Sight Day 2026! 👓
Last week, the City of Cincinnati Primary Care, in partnership with Prevent Blindness Ohio, brought World Sight Day activities to the Oyler Vision Center (Cincinnati Health Department) and the Academy of World Languages School Vision Center.

Together, we:
✅ Shared World Sight Day educational materials
✅ Provided 78 comprehensive eye exams
✅ Fitted and dispensed 120 pairs of glasses to Cincinnati Public
School students and community members

A huge thank you to our partners at Prevent Blindness Ohio, Alkeus, Amgen, ANI, and Genentech for making this event possible. Your generous support helped put clear vision within reach for our students and neighbors.

And to our incredible CHD staff: thank you for your dedication, compassion, and hard work. You made this day a success! 💙
When kids can see clearly, they can learn, play, and thrive. 🌟
