Shout out to the SoIT PhD in IT Program! UC made its first appearance at the 10th Midwest Security Workshop at Indiana University, with 7 PhD students and 2 faculty. Our students presented 4 out of the 26 student posters — showing SoIT’s growing strength in cybersecurity research. The workshop also highlighted a major trend in machine learning and AI applications for cybersecurity, especially Large Language Models. Proud of the team!
The Midwest Security Workshop event serves as a key gathering for PhD students and faculty across the Midwest to share research, network, and explore career opportunities in cybersecurity. We're excited we were able to join major research universities in the region at Indiana University Bloomington.
The School of Information Technology had a field day for all our faculty and staff to kick off another semester! We can’t wait to welcome all of our students back to campus soon!

And that’s a wrap on Camp 1 of the 2025 Early IT Summer Camp!! We couldn’t be more proud of our campers but we sure know who is…their parents, of course!
Campers got to show off all their hard work to everyone’s parents today as part of our end of camp celebration. Congrats to all the groups!

Our first Early IT camp this summer is coming to an end! Our campers made so much progress learning about project management, testing games in the 1819 E-sports Lab and even taking a UC campus tour in the rain.

This morning, our Early IT Summer Campers began two weeks of hands-on learning here at UC. We’re excited to welcome 36 students from 21 different high schools across the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas!
With the support of our Teaching Assistants, students kicked off their first challenge by building the tallest spaghetti and marshmallow tower, sparking collaboration and creativity!
