We have great news to share! Today, a proclamation was presented to our center and center director, making July 11th officially "Cheryl Ware and Over-the-Thine Senior Center Day"

"Their love and dedication and courage have been far reaching for the good of residents, allowing them to attend the Lucile Chenault Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Ball each year"

Thank you Mayor John Cranley and the City Of Cincinnati Government. We are ecstatic!

Flight volunteers allowed our seniors to join their crochet class. They were so excited about learning a new skill. Many seniors made an item for the first time and others had the opportunity to perfect their craft.

A little bit of work and a whole lot of laughter and smiles. Today was incredible. The data team at Fifth Third Bank decorated our center, preparing us for the Reds Opening Day 2018. The group served lunch and spent time getting to know our seniors. We value our partnership with Fifth Third Bank. Thank you for all that you do.

The seniors enjoyed a "Life Celebration" honoring beloved friends, Ernestine Jackson and Robert Lewis. Everyone shared fond and loving memories. Many wrote messages on balloons and released them. Mr. Crews, one of the walk-ins sang songs for everyone. It was a beautiful tribute

The Jr class from Dater High School visited this week. They sat and talked with the seniors and afterwards both groups were divided into four. Working together they had to build a cookie tower. Nope! They were not allowed to eat the cookies!
Our friends from FLIGHT were the judges.

The students served lunch and ended the day reflecting on their time here at OTR. One student stated he didn't want to come orginally, but was very glad he did.

Another student bonded so well with two of the seniors from his group he proudly announced he had been" adopted" by his new "grandma and grandpa."

We had a blast and are already looking forward to next time!

Beverly Gulla from Humana sponsored our Bingo this past week. She brought cookies and mini bottles of water, as well as six gift bags of prizes. We were celebrating National popcorn day. The seniors were able to enjoy a variety cup of mixed flavored popcorn. Which included cheese, buffalo ranch, kettle and carmel salted flavors. These sweet memories mean so much to us. Thanks Beverly and Humana!!

"I became their eyes, ears and voices. I tried to ensure that they received the best care possible and were treated with dignity and respect. None of them ever knew my name, which was ok. Their eyes would light up when they saw me. Somehow they knew that I was there for them. People said that they were lucky to have me as their guardian. I feel that I was the lucky one. Each of them enriched my life and made me a better person.”
