Mystical. Magical. Home ✨ "The Scandinavian Home: Landscape and Lore," on view June 13–September 20, 2026.

Escape to the storied lands of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden! This exhibition is the first to examine the entangled notions of home and homeland that were central to the art of each nation in the second half of the 19th century. The arts played a crucial role in reinforcing a shared sense of belonging as Nordic countries strove to identify and celebrate authentic local and national identities.

From enchanting landscapes and portraits to exquisite furniture and decorative arts, "The Scandinavian Home" features rare tapestries by Gerhard Munthe, ceramics by Alfred William Finch, silver by Henrik Møller, and landscape paintings by Hilma af Klint, Akseli Gallen-Kallela, and Gustaf Fjaestad. Organized by The Frick Pittsburgh, this exhibition unites works of art from prominent public institutions and private collectors, and it offers a singular opportunity for a comprehensive and multimedia exploration of this seminal period in Scandinavian culture.

The future of museums with Elizabeth Merritt 05/19/2026

Leaders for the future of museums 💪

In the final episode of 'The Art Engager' podcast, the Taft Museum of Art was noted as a leader in museum culture surrounding thought leadership and staff investment. In this discussion, Elizabeth Merritt, Vice President for Strategic Foresight at the American Alliance of Museums and founding director of the Center for the Future of Museums, and host Claire Bown of Thinking Museum explored the assumptions being tested right now around leadership, philanthropy, and the stability of the nonprofit sector, looking ahead to what museums need to build - and why, ultimately, museums matter.

A conversation series celebrating 40 years of the Duncanson Program 🎤

Celebrating 40 years of the Duncanson Artist-in-Residence Program, the Taft Museum of Art is partnering with Cincinnati's Conscience to capture conversations with past artists-in-residence, community partners, and more, as we celebrate the past and look forward to the future of this program.

This conversation features reflections from 2024 Duncanson Artist-in-Residence, Tunde Wey, on his residency—where food becomes a powerful lens for social discourse—and Anissa Lewis's collaboration on one of his public events. Together, they explore how art, community, and conversation intersect.
