Incident Report:

At approximately 0700 hours on October 18, 2026, units were dispatched to a reported machine explosion with an active fire at 2500 Owens Road.

Upon arrival, Engine 201 located debris scattered on the ground and observed smoke and flames coming from a rear outbuilding. Ladder equipment was utilized to assist with fire suppression efforts. Following extinguishment, crews conducted extensive overhaul operations to identify and address remaining hot spots and ensure the affected area was thoroughly checked.

The incident required coordinated efforts among multiple agencies. All personnel worked together effectively throughout the suppression and overhaul operations. The teamwork, communication, and cooperation demonstrated by all responding agencies contributed to the overall incident response.

The cause of the fire is still an ongoing investigation. No injuries were reported from all parties.

As we continue Fire Safety Week, let’s talk about something we use every day, rechargeable batteries and devices.

Charge safely, keep batteries on a hard surface, and never ignore warning signs like overheating, swelling, smoke, unusual odors, sparks, or damaged cords.

If something doesn’t look or feel right, stop using it and replace it.

A few simple precautions can help prevent a battery fire.

Today we’re continuing Fire Prevention Week by focusing on an important part of fire safety:
working smoke alarms in every home.

We’re proud to partner with the Ohio State Fire Marshal through Project SAFE to help make sure our community has the protection they need.

If you or someone you know doesn’t have working smoke detectors, please reach out to us. We can help get you the smoke alarms you need, free of charge.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. A working smoke alarm can make all the difference.
