Trauma Resource Institute

Directions Website

Trauma Resource Institute TRI aims to take people from despair to hope through simple skills-based interventions based on cutting-edge research about the brain.

The Trauma Resource Institute (TRI) is a nonprofit health organization devoted to cultivating trauma-informed and resiliency-focused individuals and communities throughout the world. By building local capacity in diverse communities both nationally and internationally, access to treatment of trauma and stress is expanded, and resolution strategies can be developed to respond in a culturally respectful and appropriate way. As a trauma educational organization we are committed to the following values:

Every individual, child, and adult has a natural-born resiliency. Individuals are entitled to interventions that are gentle, effective, and culturally sensitive. Education and intervention about the common reactions to traumatic and stressful experiences must be available to diverse populations and cultures. Treatment of individuals suffering from traumatic stress reactions must be accessible and affordable to all members of society. Enhancing the capacity of communities to provide for their own members rather than relying on outside "experts” creates resiliency–focused communities.

When we first began sharing the Trauma Resiliency Model® (TRM) and Community Resiliency Model® (CRM), we were knocking on doors with big ideas and a vision to empower communities. But to truly transform care, having a strong, rigorous research base is essential.

Thanks to the dedication of extraordinary research partners—including Dr. Beverly Buckles (Loma Linda University), Dr. Lindy Grabbe (Emory University), Dr. Kimberly Freeman, and Dr. Ingrid Duva—we have built that foundation. Today, we are so proud to share that CRM is an evidence-based practice.

At our upcoming 20th Anniversary Conference, these pioneering researchers will be leading workshops to share cutting-edge research behind our models, where we stand today, and where this work is headed in the future.

Join us in person in Southern California or virtually from anywhere in the world to explore the science of resiliency!
