🚒🔥 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: KRISTIN HOFFMAN! 🔥🚒

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Kristin Hoffman, our department’s Secretary!

Kristin has officially been with the department for 6 years, but she’ll tell you it’s really been 10 years if you count dating the Chief! 😂❤️

🚒 WHY SHE JOINED

Before officially joining, Kristin had already spent years volunteering and helping out at department events. With encouragement from fellow members, she finally decided to put in an application!

Kristin had always wondered whether her asthma and shorter stature would hold her back from being a firefighter. But she wasn’t about to let that stop her!

And when _someone_ jokingly told her she couldn’t join because the fire department was their thing? Her response was simple: “Too bad, it’s mine now too!” 😂

❤️ HER MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT

For Kristin, one of the most meaningful experiences with the department came during one of the hardest days of her life.

When her mother passed away, the funeral home didn’t have enough pallbearers to carry her mother to her final resting place. Word spread through the department, and several members stepped up to make sure Kristin had the help she needed to lay her mother to rest.

It’s a powerful reminder that being part of a fire department means so much more than responding to emergencies. It’s about showing up for one another when it matters most. ❤️

🏕️ A LITTLE MORE ABOUT KRISTIN

When she’s not helping keep the department running, Kristin works as a Pharmacy Technician. She also enjoys camping, traveling, and spending time with animals! 🐾

💬 HER ADVICE TO FUTURE MEMBERS

“Come prepared to meet all different people and to be put in all different situations. There will be ups and downs. We can always use new ideas and new people.”

🚒 THANK YOU, KRISTIN!

From the years you spent volunteering before joining to the time and dedication you continue to give as Secretary, we’re grateful to have you as part of our fire department family!

Today marks seventy years serving the wonderful community of Clark Mills, as well as the wonderful neighboring communities that we are always happy to help. Thank you to all the men and women that have served in our ranks, be it past chiefs, civil/auxiliary, commissioners, or of course firefighters. The dedication to this department and the dedication of the department to the community has always been strong. Likewise, the support of the community to the fire department has been unwavering. From the Field Days, to the fund drive, to the events and dinners of all kinds, we can always count on the community to show up for us in numbers, and for that we are extremely grateful. Thank you to our mutual aid companies that have always been there when we need them, as well as our EMS partners in Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance and Edwards Ambulance, and to our law enforcement partners in Kirkland Police, New Hartford Police, Oneida County Sheriff's and New York State Police, and of course or brothers and sisters at Oneida County Emergency Services. Thank you for allowing us to serve all of you these past seventy years! We are looking forward to serve you for many more years in the future!

🚒 Member Spotlight🚒

Name: Eva Haynes
Role: Vice President & Commissioner
Years of Service: 5 years

❤️ Why did you join the department?

I joined because I wanted to give back and make a difference in my community.

🚒 What has been your most rewarding experience?

Some of my most rewarding calls have been lift assists. Sometimes, all someone needs is a couple of helping hands to get back on their feet! It’s a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference.

🐾 Tell us a few fun facts about yourself!

I own a painting business, and I’m a proud pet parent to three dogs and a cat! One of my greatest joys is spending time with my daughter and making memories on our adventures together. When I’m not working or volunteering, you can find me cheering on the Utica Comets, working on cars, or heading off on a random adventure. I love keeping life interesting!

🔥 What advice would you give someone thinking about joining?

When I joined, I had no experience in the fire service and no family in the department. Five years later, I have both! There’s a place for everyone in the fire department, regardless of your background or experience. It’s an amazing opportunity to learn new skills, build lifelong friendships, and work together to keep our community safe.

Next week our Fire Department is having its 70th birthday. Seventy years serving the wonderful community that we have. We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support and all the men and women that have given to the community during the seventy years we’ve been serving. We’ll have another post next week but for this one we wanted to ask the community to share any stories and/or pictures they have related to the Fire Department. Share your memories in the comments or message the department’s page. We’re gonna make a collage/video and pictures that we have permission to use may be included! Thank you for seventy years, here is to many more!

🚒🔥 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: JARED FLEMING 🔥🚒

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Jared Fleming, our Department President and a dedicated member for 15 years!

For Jared, joining the fire department was about two things: helping his community and carrying on a family tradition of service. ❤️

🚨 What has been the most rewarding part of his 15 years?

For Jared, it’s the calls that remind him being a firefighter is about so much more than fighting fires.

Sometimes it’s making sure someone’s loved one has food, helping someone get a ride to the hospital, or even finding them a hospital bed. It’s being there for the frequent callers who hate having to ask for help, but knowing they’re never a burden.

It’s those moments of going the extra mile and making a difference in someone’s life that mean the most.

🛠️ When he’s not at the firehouse…

Jared works for Model A Contracting and spends his weekends as a part-time caregiver for his dad.

He enjoys cooking, woodworking, and spending time with his two dogs, Muttley and Al’fredo! 🐾

But his favorite place to be is home with his wife, Karri, their kids, Taylor and Ethan, and the dogs. Whether they’re tackling projects together, watching sports, playing video games, or just relaxing around a fire, it’s that family time he enjoys most. ❤️

💬 Jared’s advice to anyone thinking about joining?

“Join. Take it slow, be a sponge. Not every class has to be done at once. There is a place for everyone.”

👏 Thank you, Jared, for 15 years of dedication, leadership, and service! Your willingness to go above and beyond for the people in our community is a reminder of what the fire service is truly about.

🚒 Thinking about joining? Take Jared’s advice! There’s a place for everyone, and we’d love to have you be part of our firehouse family.

🦋🩷💛💜 We were gifted these beautiful, hand-painted ceramic butterflies and dragonfly to incorporate into our flowerbed, and they hold a meaning far greater than their beauty.

As the flowerbed changes and grows throughout the seasons, these special pieces will remain a part of it, serving as a lasting tribute to the three precious lives our community tragically lost in last year’s tornado.

Emily Bisson, Kenni Bisson, and Shelley Johnson 🕊️

Their spirits, their memories, and the love they left behind are woven into the heart of our community and carried with us in everything we do.

We are incredibly grateful for this thoughtful gift and the opportunity to create another beautiful reminder that, although they are no longer with us, they will never be forgotten. 🩷💛💜🦋

Forever remembered. Forever loved. Forever a part of our community.
