On Monday, October 12, 2026, Det. Giovannina Prisco and Det. Capt. Christian Lott travelled to the 40th annual convention presented by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Women in Law Enforcement. At the convention, Det. Prisco received one of three valor awards presented by the association.

Det. Prisco received this award for rescuing a driver from a burning vehicle on May 12, 2025. On that date, Sgt. Oliveira, Off. Ricks, and Det. Prisco responded to a crash on the Garden State Parkway. Once on scene, the officers located a driver, who was trapped inside of a burning vehicle and extricated him from the vehicle. Their heroic actions garnered media attention from around the region. Earlier this year, all three officers also received a valor award from the 200 Club of Union County.

The annual UNICO Festival will begin today, October 8, 2026 and conclude on Sunday, October 11, 2026. CPD would like to draw your attention to the following:

-The attached map shows the locations of the two crosswalks where everyone attending should cross Westfield Ave. These two locations will be staffed by a crossing guard. While there are also crosswalks located at Kenneth Pl. and Emerald Pl., these will not be staffed by a crossing guard. If you chose to use one of the crosswalks that is not staffed by a crossing guard, please use the pedestrian safety devices installed at the crosswalk.

-If your children are attending the festival, please let them know not to jaywalk. The lighting at the festival can make pedestrians difficult to see.

-If you are dropping anyone off at the festival, please do not do so on Westfield Ave. The safest place to discharge passengers is in the parking lot at ALJ.

-Anyone attending the festival should park at ALJ, or in the parking lots near Clark Police Headquarters and the Clark Library.

-There is no parking for the event in the Dawn Dr. neighborhood or on Kenneth Pl. Only residents who live on these streets and their guests can park there until the festival concludes. All vehicles parked in these neighborhoods must have a parking pass.

-Kenneth Pl. at Westfield Ave. will be closed while the festival is open. If you live on Kenneth Pl., please enter and exit via Hutchinson St. Similarly, the entrance to Dawn Dr. nearest to the Clark Township Municipal Building will be closed while the festival is open. If you live on Dawn Dr., please enter and exit via the entrance to Dawn Dr. nearest to Emerald Pl. These closures have been put into place to help prevent those attending the festival from parking in these neighborhoods.

-If you are attending the festival, do not walk in the street.

-Alcoholic beverages must be consumed within the confines of the tent where they are served. The Township recently adopted an ordinance prohibiting the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages in public.
