⚡🍀 Oh Snap! Simple Circuits/Careers! 🍀⚡

What a great way to start out the new 4-H year and ~ Many thanks to the 5th grade teachers at Johnson Elementary School and Simpson Elementary School for inviting Matthew and Beth in to explore the world of circuits and Electrical Engineering careers.

Across eight 5th grade classrooms (over 200 students!) and 6 days - 11 lessons, students participated in the Oh Snap! Simple Circuits/Career Program — a hands-on lesson series where students built and tested open and closed circuits, compared series vs. parallel connections, discovered how energy can power both lights and mechanical motors, along with learning about LED lights, conduction, and game creation!

👏 Special thanks to the Marie Gaston Scholarship Fund and The Sacred Heart Children’s Fund for providing our Snap Circuit kits, and to the teachers who welcomed us into their classrooms and shared their photos!

Calling all Harrison County Teens!

WV 4-H Teen Council Application 2026-2027

WHO CAN APPLY: 4-H youth who are current freshman-seniors in high school are invited to apply for the West Virginia 4-H Teen Council. At least 2 years of 4-H club experience is required.

WHY APPLY: The West Virginia 4-H Teen Council is an advisory group for the West Virginia 4-H program. Members of the TC are Ambassadors for the 4-H program who help promote 4-H, plan teen-led 4-H activities, and provide leadership on a variety of state 4-H events. Members of the council will get to know each other through team building activities as they work to provide input and strengthen events.
SELECTION OF MEMBERS: Youth from regions across the state will be selected through an application process. This year 12 youth will be selected to serve on the WV 4-H Teen Council.

DEADLINE: Submit your online applications by Friday, October 16, 2026 to be considered for the 2026-2027 WV 4-H Teen Council. Applications MUST be received by the deadline, there are no exceptions.
INTERVIEWS: Interviews may be conducted if additional information is required from applicants.

TERM OF OFFICE: The 2026-2027 teen council will be announced at WV 4-H Teen Leader Weekend. You do not have to be in attendance to be named to Teen Council, but the announcement will be made during Teen Leader Weekend. An email will be set out to those not in attendance regarding their acceptance. Members will serve from November 2026 through September 2027.
MEETINGS: Meetings will be held monthly via Zoom at 7 p.m. There may be some instances when an in-person meeting may be held.

COMMITMENTS: Regularly attend and actively participate in Teen Council meetings. If you are unable to attend a meeting, you must email the advisors to let them know you will not be able to participate. In order to be considered for leadership roles at state events (such as introducing speakers, leading reflections, leading activities) you must attend meetings leading up to that event and contribute to the planning of such events.

Only completed applications will be considered for positions on the 2026-2027 WV Teen Council.

Application Requirements:
1. Completed online application
2. Two Letters of Reference (Examples: 4-H Club leader, Extension Agent, Teacher, etc.) Reference letters cannot be submitted from parents/guardians, siblings, family, etc.
