Yesterday Evans County Divers / Firefighters recovered some critical evidence for Effingham County Sheriff’s Department in a small pond. The investigation led to a pond behind a residential property where the item was thrown into the water.
Use of an underwater metal detector assisted in finding the object. This is an ongoing investigation no other info. We are proud to serve on mutual aid calls when we can.

Announcement!
Evans County Fire Department Awarded two Grants !

The largest single problem in the fire service is not Equipment. It’s a shortage of Volunteers and full time staffing for better service to the community.

The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Recruitment and Retention (R&R) activity was created to provide direct funding to help fire departments recruit and retain volunteer firefighters, ensuring communities maintain an adequate number of trained, frontline personnel.

Retention and Recruitment Coordinator Grant.
R and R is 100% at $286,200.00 over the four-year period with no local share.

Equipment Grant
The PPE Grant is for 41 - SCBA units and 5 complete sets of Bunker Gear. $432,407.86 with the grant paying $409,976.19.

Bottom line in total Evans County will get awarded $696,176.19.

This is amazing timing with the rising cost of equipment.
