..WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON THURSDAY TO MIDNIGHT MDT
THURSDAY NIGHT.....FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY
MORNING...

* WHAT...For the Wind Advisory, north winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts
up to 50 or 55 mph expected. For the Freeze Watch, sub-freezing
temperatures as low as 30 possible.

* WHERE...Union County. For the Freeze Watch, the most likely area to
see sub-freezing temperatures is western portions of Union County.

* WHEN...For the Wind Advisory, from noon Thursday to midnight MDT
Thursday Night. For the Freeze Watch, from late Thursday night
through Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area roadways.
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive
vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

Reminder: System wide outage October 16 11:00 PM to October 17 6:00 AM.

As part of Southwest Electric Cooperative's and -State's transmission line improvement project, an overnight outage is scheduled for October 16. This outage will allow crews to complete the project's most critical work and address additional maintenance that requires the line to be de-energized.

Thank you for your patience while this crucial improvement work is being completed. These improvements will help reduce the likelihood of future extended outages and strengthen Southwest Electric Cooperative's system reliability in the area for years to come.

Moderate Risk of excessive rainfall across portions of the Central and Southern Plains, including areas of Texas and Oklahoma. A continued heavy-rain threat is also expected across northern New Mexico. Excessive rainfall can increase the potential for flash flooding. Stay out of floodwaters!
